Absolutely.
Some big games tonight.
Boston vs. Washington
Chicago vs. Columbus
Colorado vs. Detroit
The odds are in our favor for all 3 match-ups. It would be nice to get some help. |

I expect Ruutu to be a smaller version of Ponikarovsky, some offensive upside and the ability to forecheck and be physical, hopefully. |

When I heard the news, I was also expecting them to announce that the NHL has also reconsidered the penalty from the Scott Stevens fiasco and that they have awarded the Devils the Blues first rounder in 2014 as well as compensation.

I really don't think he did anything......
This whole thing is being blown way out of proportion.
If Kovalchuk were still in a Devils uniform this would never have happened.
He retired and this fell into place based on nothing other than common sense
No magic, no side deal, no conspiracy.

Lmao!!!!!! If you couldn't see some big happening when he kept his 29th overall pick you're either blind deaf or retarded. As soon as I heard kovalchuk retired I knew there was a bunch of back room dealings going on. |

I know the Devils didn't really address their offensive needs, but this is the type of move I can support. Let's face it, outside of Clowe there isn't a ton of toughness on the team and even though Ruutu might not drop the gloves, he's a gritty guy who can add a physical element the Devils were lacking. The fact that he's under team control for two more years is big; I didn't want Lou to sell off younger parts in order to try and "patch things up." Assuming Volchenkov gets bought out and Zid doesn't return, you're looking at around 8 mil in cap space, perhaps more depending on Marty. Combine all that with the cap increasing and the Devils should have money to throw at a forward this summer. |

Classy use of words.
Baseless argument. It's absolutely plausible that he wanted to keep the pick they year after the cup run to attempt to immediately build upon what was a very good team.
There's rarely much difference between the latter half of the first round. It makes plenty of sense to keep a first round pick after a Cup run. You'd be better off sacrificing a mid 20's pick this year if you thing you can build a powerhouse like Chicago, Pitt, or LA.
Btw, I would like to credit your GM for his masterful handling of the teams goaltending situation over the last 8 months. |

I don't want to be that guy, but way back I called that they didn't give up the 29th overall pick because they planned on appealing to get the pick back. Turns out I was right 8) |

I don't think Lou really wanted to sign Kovy, that was more of a push by ownership at the time. |

I feel sorry for the poor (frank)er. I blame Aquilini for that situation. And statistically you're not going to give up a worse pick than 29th. Maybe it's just a strange coincidence. |

Sure, if that's the only statistic you're taking into account.
On the other hand, if they were able to keep Parise and Kovalchuk it makes sense to put off the pick as long as possible.
Youre going to assume you'll be pick mid 20's every year and you would draft prospects and try to build the team while those guys are in their prime. |

Thus just in according to Nick Kypreos (Sportsnet) ... Use of new and enhanced instant replay has disallowed Brett Hull's goal in the 1999 Stanley Cup Final ... Congratulations to the new champions ... The Buffalo Sabres! Next up ... Kerry Fraser's non call on Gretzky has been reversed and
