4 points!

I don't think anything of the Downie "headbutting" penalty - especially since he was headbutting the other player's chest - but do wonder if he's going to sit a game for the headshot/punch on Megna?

If there was another option pushing him for playing time, maybe he wouldn't be so stupid. The extra forwards on the roster are Rosehill/Vande Velde. Two guys who aren't NHL players.
He's been a complete waste of time since being brought back here. Zero offense, (3 goals in 46 games) and one stupid, mindless penalty after another. They are winning with him in the lineup, so I guess Berube should leave well enough alone.

Well sabers saying they want 2 top line prospects for first overall. Maybe Laughton and morin and our first for ekblad. I would do it.

I agree with you. Downie is playing because there is no other option. It is pretty obvious to me that Raffl would be a perfect fit to play with Couturier and Read. But you cannot play Downie and Rinaldo on the same line. If the Flyers would lift there NHL embargo against Tye McGinn he could play on the 4th line, move Raffl up and sit Downie.

Anywho, it was great to see the Pens get beat twice. That team needs to stop trying to beat the Flyers up. That is not there game.

McGinn isn't all that great. He is a tweener. Not great speed. Shooting ability. Hockey sense. Or defense. Just average at all. In order for hmm to stick he roils have to exactly at least one of those.

Assuming that trade, I don't know that anybody would want to play against their D in a couple years - Myers, Morin, Zado, and Risto...

Last time I checked McGinn was injured. Not sure if that is still the case. You are right about not being able to play Downie and Rinaldo on the same line, that would be a disaster. For some reason the Flyers have this belief that McGinn can't play on the fourth line. Why they believe this is baffling. That's exactly what he is at the NHL level, a 4th line player. I also agree that Raffl would be a nice fit playing with Couturier and Read. Could be a very good defensive line, that can provide offense.

Just chose McGinn due to his NHL experience and ability to not take stupid penalties. I would choose almost any other prospect the Flyers have over Downie. Especially, if it means that Raffl will play on the 3rd line and Downie is not playing. He just does not know when to leave it alone.

I would do anything for a guy like Downie on our team, he may have more heart than the entire Pens lineup.

Its funny. The NBC announcers aren't too terribly bad when they take Crosby and Malkins manhood out from deep in their throats.

I think Downie is a good player. I think his emotions get the best of him. If he could control himself and not take penalties, he could be a very effective player. Its not like he does nothing for that line. He works the boards well and wins board battles.

I don't want them to re-sign him because they have enough undisciplined players already, but they can't move him off that line without making the 4th line terrible.

The head butt was an embarrassment yesterday. Then to add the cherry on top of the poop sundae he throws an elbow to a guys chin in a one goal game. Luckily the referee was looking right at it and didn't make the call for some reason.

When he is playing well he is a nice player. He has some talent but that bit of talent has all but disappeared for some reason. He is the best option they have right now. Hopefully they will continue to add to the organizational depth in the next few years so we have more Raffls and less Downies.
