JR made it sound like Jaskin would be on the second line. At least to start. |
|
|
|
T.J. Oshie is confirmed not playing, and no one blames him. So yes, Jaskin will start on the second line with Berglund and Sobotka.
Edited the main post with the confirmed roster. Of course, Hitch is the coach, so this could be subject to change 20 seconds into the first period. |

Will be nice to see Jaskin get a shot with a top line and see some PP minutes. He's seen a lot of 4th line time in his time with the Blues this year, they'll at least get an idea of what they have should he need to play come playoff time. |

Blues with a lot of jump. Ott and Roy are flying tonight, which is a good sign. Jaskin playing strong. |

Blues outshooting Winnipeg 7-1. Got a goal from Morrow, and are playing very physical. Is everyone out drinking tonight?? |

Man I love Chris Porter. - bcallaway
He's an ideal fourth liner. Not inept defensively, gets pucks deep, and hits hits hits. |

Except for the ridiculously poor attempt at a backcheck by Ott on the loan Jets goal. I must admit that I have been very underwhelmed by Ott. I hope he is just finding his bearings on the team. He hasn't been terrible but not very impressive either.
Miller on the other hand is such a different presence than Halak it is unreal. Their styles are so different, much more different than I even expected. He is calmer, more controlling of shots and lets up a lot less rebounds. I think the confidence will build with him. |

A few things here. Ott was completely gassed and had to rush back because of the missed assignment by the defensemen. The diving poke check by Miller was I'll advised and obviously did not work. Lots to blame on that goal so pinning it on Ott is ridiculous.
Secondly, he wasn't brought in for offense. He was brough in for his defense, his faceoff ability, and his physicality, which he was been outstanding at. If you're expecting lots of points from Ott, who's playing a third line role, you're going be disappointed. He put up some decent points in Buffalo because he was playing as a first line center, which doesn't suit his role. He'll chip in with timely offense but he isn't going to be a point producer. |

Ott's been terrific. He was a much needed face off guy, especially during the time Sobotka was out of the lineup and he's always standing in front of the net driving the bejeebers out of the goal tender.
He's just another cog in the machine that makes the Blues a miserable team to have to go up against.

"Dustin Byfuglien went after Barret Jackman"
He did? Looked like a clean hit and sudden Jackman and another Blues player both grabbed Bufuglien and started facewashing him. |

Real clean hit by Big Buff. Puck was long gone when he decided to hit Jax. What do you expect the blues to do? Stand around and take it?

Just a good old fashioned Chuck Norris division contest last night. Every game with Winnipeg has had a feisty element to it.
I enjoyed every second of it.
Alex Pietrangelo finally got tired of Evander Kane trying to run him down and left the stick up a bit and allowed Kane to plow into him and practically break his own jaw.
It was a thing of beauty. Well worth the 2 minute penalty. |

Yeah, old school way of defending yourself. Perfectly fine with him taking a penalty on that play. |

Huh. Hitch has mostly played him on the second line during his call ups. One game he switched him with Paajarvi because the kid was tired and Magnus was blazing. |

I agree.
Like. I said when they got Miller and everyone was focused on their similar career svpcts, look at their pk svpcts, very different and it shows.
But seeing Miller's approach he is ready no matter how many shots he gets, because he is involved in the game watching and staying mentally prepared.
Anyway Halak is doing better on a poor defensive team so maybe he does not have to think as much playing for the Capitals and that helps him? |

Nothing beautiful about that. That was a cheap head shot. Kane could have suffered a concussion. Dirty play and should have had 5 minutes. If that's what you see as a beautiful sight, stick to WWE. |

Wasn't anywhere close to a major penalty. If you like seeing checking, maybe you should stick to ice dancing. |
