Brooks has always had an axe to grind with Torts, goes back to the infamous 04 Stanley Cup FINALS WHEN Torts embarrassed Brooks in front of the National hockey media. He covered him every day for the NY Post in Torts tenure in NY & it was a fun experience seeing the 2 of them go back & forth every day for almost 5 yrs.

As far as AV being hands off so far, its def true & despite early season struggles, can't complain at all with the state of things Rangers & AV & staff's job.

There's several youtube vids that feature Torts & Brooks, maybe embarrass is a bit strong of a word but he talked down to him & you know how media types take to that. Brooksie is a great writer but he has an ego too & wrote many pieces on Torts that were scathing. It takes 2 to tango.

Okay, I thought there was one specific incident that kicked it all off.

After the season we've had, my fun meter is getting a bit tired. I'll be watching tonight periodically; strange how Torts just won't give the kids like Jensen a chance despite his hot start? Heard on the radio this morning that he's skating on the third line with Mathhias and Higgins…right or wrong, he'll stay true to HIS ideals to the very end???

I'm starting to think it was the other ways around. Teams were bidding for AV. We were the ones who were stupid enough to offer top dollar and term without a competing bidder, now we are suffering for buyer's remorse.
