On a side note, only 2 more Saturdays of Glenn Healy stupidity. |

With the 10th pick in the 2014 NHL entry draft, the Vancouver Canucks select a player of good but not elite upside that won't be able to truly contribute for another 2-4 years.
Tanking sucks. Move on. |

Top 8 is the money spot right now baby. Look up Nikolaj Ehlers stats, compare them to Mackinnon's last year. |

Mackinnon has been the best player to come from a draft since Tavares. no comparison. 5'11-160? |

Didn't say he was as good, but the fact his numbers are even in the same range should tell you something, plenty of players put on 20 pounds from the age of 17 onward. He's the kind of offensive talent we'd be lucky to have in the system if we can get him with the 8th pick. |

Word. His skillset is unreal. Figured he'd be long gone before we pick, is that not the case? |

i think the top 6 is pretty much set to be:
Ekblad, Reinhart, Bennett, Draisaitl, DalColle, Ehlers (not necessarily in that order).
After that it becomes a bit of a crap shoot with the next 4 or 5 guys.
Something tells me Gillis would go hard after Ritchie who is currently listed at 6'2" and 225lbs. You know how Gillis loves him a good power forward. "Milan Lucic version 2.0." |

Apparently the canucks seem pretty set on ruining Lacks confidence. |

I don't see it that way at all. I've got a number of gripes with this organization of late but how they develop their goalies isn't one of them.
Lack: This season is done. He's currently penciled in as our starter next season but we really aren't sure if he can handle the workload or whether a vet needs to be signed this summer to spot him 20-30 games. Playing Lack heavy down the stretch is the best way to find out.
Markstrom: Clearly something happened between being one of the world's elite goalie prospects to how he ended up in Florida. Rollie Melanson has done great things with our guys and the best thing to do at this juncture to salvage your prospect is give him as much time as you can afford away from the games and with Melanson - in this case the rest of the season and summer - rather than start him against Anaheim (as Carol suggested) and let him burn.
If they deem that Lack can handle the heaviest load then including a hopefully rejuvenated Markstrom into the tandem next year (there is no tandem at present) should pay off. Bottom line is we won't know what we have in Markstrom until the development work is done. Playing him in 1 or 2 games behind a demoralized team won't change that. |

I don't see any quick fixes in the draft, however there are some very good young players, you can never have too many of those! |

Hate the QMJHL for that, any player with even a modicum of skill has the ability to put up a ppg in that league.
Furthermore, Ehlers is arguably playing on the league's most superior team.
Long story short......this draft is sh!t, as are the chances of any draftee actually having an impact on this team within the next three years |

Luckily we have some great veteran forward players and our defence is good as well. I see a quick turnaround if this is done properly, with the current lineup we'll never be the Oilers. |

Just pick a great young player regardless of league they play in. That said the OHL and WHL r good places to start. |

I'm feeling like Gillis has already botched the situation... Lookout for a Schneider 2.0 |

I'd be happy with teravainen shaw and a 1st next year. Can pick up another LHD and Top 6 forward and a pick for Edler. |
