I can bet that Brodziak will get at least 3 point blank range shots and fail |

I have to say, I was somewhat underwhelmed when I first heard the name "Wild".
Call me a traditionalist, but the name reminded me of a ECHL team name, or small time college.
I would have much preferred something lame like "Wild Cats" or , or "Cougars" something. I like their newer sweaters though, the look like a classy varsity school Uni. |

Who would think something that stupid would create adversity but I truly believe it has been a negative factor for the organization. Hopefully all the work to rebuild the roster/brand by Leipold and Fletcher makes it not matter anymore! |

Yeah, it's tough enough when your a struggling expansion team. We were talking at work yesterday and a buddy said he read somewhere that market research show that the most attractive name/logo/jersey among young children belonged to the Calgary Flames. I never thought of that before because I'm an Oilers fan, but they actually have a really cool Logo, name and color scheme. Too bad they play in Calgary. |

Haha no doubt.
I really think even though Feaster got ousted there he was compiling some very strong young players for the Flames to move on from the Iginla/Kipper Era.
I honestly thing the Oilers are suffering from prestige and ego in their inner operations tooo many people not getting it done there changing the culture and handling their crazy talented young core. If I was an Oilers fan I would want them to clean house Lowe on down IMO |

I was hoping that by now the name Wild and that thing they call a logo would have grown on me. Sadly, they have not. I just want to know who came up with Wild or some of the runner ups; Freeze,White Bears, Blue Ox, Voyageurs...thats the best we could do?
Maybe one day the Stars will relocate and the North Star name wil become available, but we may as well ride this one out. Call them the Potholes for all I care, so long as they can achieve some success. |

I don't subscribe to any of that actually. I think Mac T is a very solid leader that has the right smarts to fix this thing. The Majority of the problems here are player personnel. Bad mix of small forwards, not enough grit, weak defense.
Firing Lowe really does nothing He did kinda wreck this team post SCF, trying to remain competitive instead of starting the rebuild. Mis handled a lot of assets, etc. As president he has done excellent work establishing an exclusive farm system (something we went without for a decade), partnering with the WHL and Oil Kings, revamped the scouting staff, etc.
Tambellini did about half his job when he was here, and all he had to do was tank to get high picks and surround them with quality role players. Like I said. Half.
In all honesty, the team that drafted Taylor Hall was about as far along as a 1st or 2nd year expansion team, with few prospects, and few quality veterans. I think the rebuild is realistically only slightly behind. Expecting this to be a playoff team after 4 seasons is a tad ambitious. (Yes, I realize this will be 8 years. The first 4 we just sucked).

You could have the Dallas Stars and The Minnesota North Stars in the same league, I always like how Minnesota North Stars sounded.... |

I think tough to have happen though because I bet marketing money gets shipped down to Norm or whoever on ALL of the North Stars gear that people buy still here! |

I don't know, I like the name and logo. It could be worse like the NY "Rangers" that has absolutley nothing to do with NY. Just named after the owner cause he was from texas. Granted the team is a original six from the 20's. |

The Rangers Uni is plain, but it's a classic. One of my favorites. |

Wild looking a bit different in clutch time this season... Really like the effort in the past few games. Maybe Yeo is finally having some impact. Bryz playing well! Who knew?! |

Not to take anything away from last night's game, because our guys came out flying, but it was pretty apparent that Pittsburgh knew they had nothing to play for and just wanted to get out of here without any injuries. Regardless, wins at LA and against Pitt should give the Wild some much needed confidence as the regular season wraps up. |

Hilarious. This thread is usually quiet, but at least it's a troll free zone. And Paula Dean is a pretty good writer.Go harass Leafs fans or something. |

Yeah! I hate the (frank)ing trap game! Lemaire is just to defensive minded! I'm guessing Gaborik will walk because of it... I heard Heatley might want out of Ottawa as well! Wow! That could get interesting! Wonder where he'll end up? |

According to comments made by Lou Nanne a year or so ago on KFAN's Barreiro show, he claimed that Dallas did not own the rights to the North Stars logo/brand but rather the league itself did. Hence Minnesotas re-expansion could have taken back the North Stars name and brand should they chose to do so.
This was brought up in 2012 I believe because fans thought that it would be kind of a neat idea to have the Wild don the old throw back North Star sweaters during a game in honor of celebrating Minnesota NHL hockey history. There were rumors that the Dallas Stars organization wouldn't allow it but according to Nanne this was false and that the Dallas organization had no control over the use of the old North Stars logo or brand. He stated that the league held the rights to the logo/branding.
I'm going to try and find the pod cast of that show if the KFAN archives allow going back that far... |
