A regulation loss last night would have gone a long way for tanknation.

They're not giving up Tavers as that defeats the purpose.

Even though it would clearly never happen, let's have fun with Ek's roooomer. I'm bored anyway.

Let's assume for a moment that Wang wasn't selling, he's sick of losing, realized he had too many youngsters and not enough vets, and wanted to sign some star power to increase ticket sales in their new Brooklyn location.

Assuming the Sedins would waive to live in NY (not entirely unbelievable), what would the offer be?

Ryan Strome (C)
Griffin Reinhart (D)
Cal Clutterbuck (W)
Michael Grabner (W)

Trade Edler for a F, trade Higgins or Hansen, keep Kesler (mostly because he already paid for private school).

This would allow NYI to keep their Tavares-Okposo top pairing and slot the Sedins on the 2nd line.

This gives us a 2C in Strome (might be premature but I think he's ready to make the jump) with the potential to be a 1C, possibly a future top pairing D (Reinhart), a top 6 speedy winger (Grabner), and a tough hitting tweener (Clutterbuck).

I'd love to hear the Gillis/Snow trade conversations! I can't even imagine the crazy crap they'd come up with.

I wonder how true Ekland's "Sedins to NYI" rumours are... What E number is it?

One can dream...

Don't think the Sedins are moving. What is the real deal with Kesler? Does he want to stay? I would guess he is the piece the Islanders are looking at and not the Sedins...

Talk about moving goal posts, Jensen does well, screws up and is put on the 4th line and then has to wait to get a chance. Corrado didn't seem as though he was liked earlier in the year when he was called up, screws up with a couple bad penalties but it is now all okay. Weber is back on the blue line for the PP and misses a bad pass and is off the team.

I think Strome Clutterbuck Grabs and Reinhardt would be a great deal I would even throw in Edler to seal the deal.

Clutterbuck Mathias Hansen would be a good third line

Jensen Strome Kesler
Burrows Horvat Grabs
Clutter Mathias Kassian
Sestito Richardson McGrath

I had a really strong feeling this would happen to Jensen. To be fair, his game regressed before he was demoted. In fact, it started to happen as soon as we started to play some non-AHL opposition. But to put him on the scrub lines makes no sense whatsoever.

Corrado - Torts might be getting orders on that one. If we do trade a D, Corrado will need to make the jump full time next season. I think he can do it but they want to make sure.

Weber - Carol might be right that he's being shown the door. Who knows. I think he should be re-signed but I also like Vantel's idea of Engeland to muscle up the blue line.

That lineup wouldn't get us far next season. I'd prefer to see something like:

Burrows-Kesler-Grabner
Jensen-Strome-Kassian
Clutterbuck-Mathias-Hansen
Sestito-Santorelli-Lain

If we trade Higgins and Edler for another top 6 then this lineup would change. Let Horvat have a cup of coffee and then another year of development.

The mind of an NHL coach must be a complicated mess.... crazy extremes.

The only mean edge that comes from the blue line comes from Bieksa and he doesn't bring it all the time, so it would be nice if that need could be addressed.

Corrado did not look out of place a couple years ago when called up for the playoffs.

They have to trade away one of their big 4 d with ntc's to shake it up a bit back there.

That "reset" last year was a joke, should be an interesting summer coming up.

This might be the real reset year if certain key personnel are let go. If not, I don't have the greatest confidence that the same brass can execute what needs to be done, whether they see the need or not.

Kesler as 1LC is the Ipecac of lineup projections... Just projectile vomited all over my living room.

I know but there's nothing else I could come up with in that trade scenario. I've been on the record many times stating he should be a W not a C. But I'd hardly put Strome up there, unless we're serious about getting McDavid.

That makes no sense for the Isles. We need a goaltender, coach and reinhart will be ready to step in on defense, Clutterbuck and Grabner kill penalties and give us depth on the wing and they're all cheap and young. So in return we get two guys at 7 mil per who both massively underachieved or declined this year? All the risk goes to the Isles and it doesn't address any weaknesses and they're not young. This is a terrible offer.

We were a goal away from being in 26 th spot last night.i am not sure how dressing chimps for forwards and seals for Dmen could hurt our standings that much.

To me there is little difference between 26 and 30 th. IMO we have been one of the bottom 3 teams this year and we playing boring hockey. I am not sure why fans are afraid of change.

I don't blame the coach seeing we were on this downward trend for years. In 2012 we had a big game against the Bruins and sucked the rest of the year. This year we had our big game against the kings and sucked again after that. These are trends of years past and get fooled by one or two games a year where we play over our head against a big team and win followed by complacency immediately after that.

This is nowhere near an elite team and we should be willing to roll the dice.

They should have sat Hank last night and had Schroeder or Dalpe up front.

They should be evaluating existing players by giving them significant minutes down the stretch to determine value and future with the club. Any core player with any kind of ailment should be sat and replaced by a call up to see what is in the system.

Don't care if we look like an AHL team with only 5 games left. Not tanking, just want these players to have a chance to show their stuff and give management something to think about.

If we win, great if we get a better pick in the draft, great!

I wouldn't mind seeing Schroeder get a ton of minutes. Everything points to him not being an NHLer, but I would hate to see some other team sign him for nothing then have him develop into someone who contributes. Also, in all likelihood he would really help out tanknation, and at the end of the day that's all I really want right now.

You would think Gillis would be hoping Schroeder would pan out...

Another black mark on his GM record.... and I think Torts is more of a problem than Gillis.

You ask too much. Trying to understand Torts is like trying to understand The Lord above. They are too great to ever know. Just accept.
