If he doesn't increase his foot speed, he's doomed for a bottom six role. Seems to always be a step behind the play.

From fans, obviously. Of course nothing is being said about it from legitimate outlets. The offseason will prove very interesting if he continues to struggle though.

If we move or buy out Richards we better watch Carters attitude closely. It may have a big effect on him. For me we have to give Richards another year. Same goes for Brown. Bad year. But you dont usually rid yourself of a guy after one year of bad play. Not to mention Sutter's style and attitude might be wearing on some of these guys.

While there are a few strong prospects in the Kings system, don't think they have somebody that can walk in and replace Richards by next season. UFA list not looking too good either unless some people get bought out (like Richards...)

If you're going to buy him out it has to be this year. This will be the last time you can use a compliance buyout without taking a hit. I think Carter will be fine without Richards. Problem with Richards is I feel he peaked early in Philly, Holmgren realized this and got good value for him while his value was still high. Obviously people will only remember that the Kings won a cup that year but that was expected, they were stacked.

I wonder if there was any validity to the rumour of Kadri and Kulemin for Richards before L.A. swooped in with a better offer.

Richards is one of my favourite players, and if he's available I would hope Nonis would throw his hat in.

I think the Kings should be more worried about what to do with Dustin Brown. 27 pts on the season from your captain and he's about to start the 8 year contract extension. Yikes! I think the Kings need a new style of offense because whatever he is doing the players in LA don't seem to be scoring up to their potential.

wasn't there something around Richards and the Leafs during that trade? That if they knew if he was available that Leafs had a package deal ready for him?

Or that had a package in place but the Kings upped theirs and beat them out for Richards? Cant remember

Here's what is retarded, in my view. Dustin Brown is way better than David Clarkson, and the contracts are comparable. Would he not get similar money if he were bought out as a UFA???

Or is someone out there gonna say that 27 other GM's would not pay what Nonis and allegedly Mac T offered?

You are correct. Richards should be playing the 2C. Worrying about Thornton means you are letting the Sharks dictate the game and who YOU want to play. Richards cannot be glued to the lack of talent 4th liners. If you want to win, these SHOULD be the lines

Gaborik-Kopitar-Toffoli
Pearson-Richards-Carter
Brown-Stoll-Williams
King-Vey-Lewis

11 of those 12 players are skilled offensively.

Nolan, Clifford, Greene or Muzzin

Against a skilled team like the Sharks, especially if Quick is not sharp, you must counter with offense. Sutter will never do it in a thousand years. I don't like our chances if he does not adjust. We'll see.

same issue in philly with vinny (although he did have 20 goals this season and healed from a broken back). he's been a lead anchor on the second line, and seemingly better on the 4th. you don't want to be paying your 4th line center 5+million...but if his play isn't warranting a higher slot, you gotta' leave him there and let him play his way out.

Trade him to Florida. They like to take long term contracts.

A bad year can happen to any player. Don't get rid of a player after one bad year.
