Maybe they just give him a $5K fine like Lucic. This is the NHL you're talking about. |

Neither referee called a penalty at the time of the hit. It was not until the outcome that a penalty was called. Typical Neanderthal NHL. |

I thought rather than the outcome being called it was the video replay being called. It all took long enough that I'm sure there was a replay before the call was made. Does not in any way change the fact that the right call was made. |

If you watch the replay, you will see that neither referee had his hand up until play was stopped. If there was no serious injury, no penalty would have been called. The NHL has to be better than this. |

Read what I said again. I never said that the call was made before play was stopped. Regardless, the right call was made. That is more important than when the call was made. |

It sickens me that the Blues have been getting run for nothing more than being a successful classy team. It takes away from the integrity of hockey. If we wanted to see people try to mame each other, we'd have gladiators. I like physical hockey, but I don't enjoy watching this style of hockey. I've got to believe the NHL want its stars to play. Oshie, Steen, Backes, Tarasanko, Sobotka and Petro have all been cheapshotted. I believe Seabrook gets 3 games so that he's eligible for games 6 and 7. Anything less and we've got to take justice into our (Blues) hands and really try to injure their best players. |

How can you spout bs about being sickened and then call for purposely injuring players? This kind of bs sickens me. |

You are right. That's fair. This style of hockey has only gotten worse of late. I really hate playoff hockey. In response to me "eye for eye" attitude, I feel completely helpless. The Blues have been taken these types of shots for several years and the league does nothing. What is the answer? Continue to rise above it?

In today's NHL the teams that rise above it win Stanley Cups. The Blues have not taken any more of these shots than any other team in the league either BTW. |

I beg to differ. I believe the Blues have lost more players and man games to concussion over the last five years than any other team. However, I understand your point. This is hockey and not team is being treated any different than any other team.

If Ryan Reaves wasn't such a spot picker maybe the Blues top players wouldn't continuously be targeted. |

I'm sorry but I don't see any difference between this hit and the hit by Orpik on Toews. In my opinion they were both dangerous hits. The Orpik hit was not penalized nor was it deemed as a suspendible offense. The hit resulted in a major injury. Consistency is the key, which the NHL has not reached. |

You're gonna say I'm a homer and all that other crap most likely but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt...
From the NHL's perspective, they're removing/penalizing headshots.... I'm not saying they're consistent because they are not.
Seabrook's primary impact point was the head of Backes, Seabrook was just at the point of being off of one skate and almost the other. Backes has most likely a significant injury related to being hit in the head. Seabrook made all the points of a checklist as far being suspended for this hit, albeit maybe he wasn't trying to hit him in the head, I don't think he was, but he's gotta pay for making the bad timing of the hit.
Won't go into the Orpik hit, its been beaten to death, Half hawks fans don't like it the other half are fine or indifferent. It really is a matter of milliseconds. Tons of grey area and thats what the Player Safety department has to rule on. |

Cry me a river. Its only in the past 1-2 years that the blues' talent level has risen above scraping the bottom of the barrel. Up till then Hitch and forgot that idiot that coached before him dealt in nothing but bush league shenanigans to agitate and intimidate people. Especially your boy backes. You think guys like lapierrier, reaves, ott, and Polak are there for their talent?
Hawks get outhit and run at every year. Especially the playoffs. They never whine, they never retaliate. But they do win Cups often... |

Not going to call you a homer. If you watch the play, Seabrook is initiating the hit when Backes starts to turn back for the puck, while I agree that the contact was made to the head, Seabrook made a picture perfect check. His elbow remained down, stick on the ice, it was Backes turning back for the puck which caused the head contact IMHO. Not looking to discuss the Orpik hit from a legal, illegal perspective, just feel that they are the same hit, only difference is Toews hadn't missed the puck, he had pushed it forward. |
