He's a great person off the ice, too. Would love to see the Devils select him.

All sound like our type of players. Can't wait for the draft and FA to start. Can only speculate what will occur with the roster so much.

Prediction:

The Devils will inform the league that they have traded the #30 overall pick in 2014. The NHL will then inform them that they are not allowed to trade the pick, and will take the pick away as a disciplinary measure. The NHL will later reverse its ruling on the basis of "meh, whatever" and give the Devils their draft pick back.

Free agency period will start and lou will be on vacation. around july 20th lou will go dumpster diving for the washed up leftovers. the devils will draft some overhyped european who will not be ready to play until 2018, only to find out they are too soft to play on the smaller rinks. welcome to the 2014-15 season, same as the 2013-14 season. plus don't forget the clock will be running on the schneider free agency.

Oh enough with all that negativity! I think Lou Is finally realizing he has to tweak his methods a bit and get to business right away. No way he lets cory hit free agency. If coy won't resign he will trade him. Lou knows this franchise can't get afford to get set back yet again by losing a franchise player for nothing

Question.....

How is Adam Larrson doing? I mean is he still figured to be in next years D core or has he regressed? What mistakes is the kid making or what's hindering his development?

Thanks....

He will be somewhere in the top 3-5 next year. He hasn't so much regressed as he has just not been given the opportunity to excel to do untimely injuries over the last two seasons that have healed just as calender rolled around to the time of year when winning games to make the playoffs became more important than player development. Reid Boucher finished the season in Albany for similar reasons.

His ice-vision and passing ability are his best assets. However, he hasn't been given many PP mins to allow him to become comfortable making plays in the offensive zone. He needs to develop his offensive skills more, because the talent is there. It's currently a matter of getting more comfortable and not feeling the need to make the simple play for fear of getting benched.

Really the same thing moving the puck through the neutral zone. He'll show flashes of great outlet passes, but it isn't consistently sustained. He goes back to simple plays that are below his skill level. He's afraid to do more.

Defensively, he needs to get stronger on the puck behind the net and in the corners. He has been edged off the puck more than you'd like, but it's not for lack of physicality, as he will use his body when he needs to. It's more so the speed of the game and the tightness of the areas of the ice that he's in. He's not comfortable stick-handling in a crowd like Drew Doughty or Duncan Keith.

Physically, he uses his body when he needs to and does not shy-away. However, you would like to see a player with his frame get a little stronger and more physical.

Bottom line: Moving forward, his issue is going to be getting comfortable with the speed of the game and more importantly comfortable with the idea that his skill-set does translate to this level. That confidence has been lacking since the 2nd half of the season before the lockout. It causes his game to become far too simplistic and significantly decreases his overall effectiveness.

untimely or not, the organization has treated our coveted once in every 20 years 4th overall pick, like he's just another 3rd rounder trying to crack the lineup. It's been sickening to endure, and depressing to think that we could potentially hamper and ultimately ruin our 4th OVERALL PICK. Don't give him cookies, but you need to let this gem play the game and learn as he goes... even at the expense of our mighty captain and incredible shot blocker -_-

Long story short: Larsson can be the slickest defenseman in the league, but he has confidence issues.

He handles NHL level defending with "standard" mistakes... he essentially plays like he's 25. As for his offense... he doesn't handle/carry the puck much... probably because Pete blamed him way too easy or something...

Maybe we should get Erixon, whom he used to play with when he was in Skelleftea...

Would love to have a fast skater who can fly.
Rangers have Hagelin and Islanders have Grabner. The devils could definitely use a guy like that.

But seriously, we should lure Sergei Plotnikov to cross the pond.
