I agree, I would not trade Brayden Schenn for Kesler. |
|
|
|
I agree Bill. For What it would cost the Flyers to acquire Kesler does he make the Flyers that much better? I don't think so. |

Bill Meltzer: Meltzer's Musings: Kesler, Kapanen, Meszaros Conditional Pick - bmeltzer
All very good points on why Kesler is a bad idea for the Flyers. Unless they are able to move Lecavalier(either in the deal for Kesler or not) and Brayden Schenn(in a deal for defense help) which creates a bit of a hole at 2nd line C, there's no sense in it.
Even if they move both Vinny & B Schenn, I'd rather see Couturier given a crack at 2nd C before they add another vet |

Flyers need to move 1 or 2 bad contracts. Vinny is one. Hartnell and Streit are 2 more. |

If Streit plays like he did in the second half of the season, his contract isn't an issue at all. |

I don't get the problem with Streit? 44 points from the backend is alright by me. In my opinion he is their best puck moving defencemen. |

Contracts I hate that should be considered in trades, in order:
Hartnell, Vinny, Grossman
Also, I've come to the conclusion that two pieces we need to realistically be ready to part with are Laughton and Coburn. |

I don't see a fit for Kesler in Phi.Canucks have absolutely no use for Lecavalier.
I know Flyers are balls against the wall with the cap this year and I do Hope Canucks offer sheet Brayden Schenn for an amount that has the Flyers thinking whether they should accept or not. I can also see Nashville giving a little payback to the Flyers. |

Not against the cap so bad we couldn't match a Schenn offer sheet.

Agree on Kesler. There is a chance Couts is better than Kesler by next season. They both play a similar role. He just doesn't fit a need with this team.
Kapanen sounds like Matt Read with more offensive potential. I wouldn't mind that pick. Our team needs speed and wingers for the future. A player like Kapanen could be very valuable. It might be better to pick the safer guy in a draft with quite a bit of volatility. |

Shows that you have 6 mil in space and a 17 man roster. You still need to sign 5 players and if Schenn is eating up 5 mil of the 6 mil cap space then you can't sign 4 more players for one mil. You would have to move contracts. |

If Schenn wants $5 million in his next deal it shouldn't be coming from the Flyers |

I'd still take it, mainly because they'd be picks in the 2015 draft.
I still hope to sign him but at a much lower cap hit. |

If someone offer sheets Schenn 5+ mill well gladly take the picks. He deserves half of that money.
Either that, or we match and then trade him and Luke. |

They have Prongers LTIR if they need it. They plan on moving money anyway. They want to move VL and possibly one of the defenseman. That would potentially clear another 8-9M depending on how much of Vinnys deal they'd need to eat |

Then it's a win win . We get our top 6 forward and you get a first rounder for next year. |

I don't think they can take Prongers LTIR off until the season starts where they would need to be cap compliant |
