It may have been from all the buzz and his crazy youtube video, but I was hoping Milano would have fallen in their lap, or they would have jumped up a few spots to grab him. I like the Tuch pick, though. Seems like another Coyle, which can't be that bad. |

The only thing on Milano is he profiles more as a playmaker in my opinion so I was hoping for Fabbri because he is a goal scorer something lacking in MN organizational prospects.
To get a kid the size and skill of Tuch at 18 though its a very good pick. |

agreed. as our pick was coming near I just kept saying "don't go goalie, don't go goalie". But pleased with our pick.....
on another note, that was a dull draft with trades. was expecting a little more noise. |

unrelated topic.... after Draisaitl was picked and they did his interview. They said to start sending in a good nickname for him. Did anyone see that TSN actually let "THE FINAL SOLUTION" go through. |

I think given the LITTLE that actually happened this weekened trade wise it was VERY eye opening to see questionable returns on players like Ryan Kesler and James Neal.
Shows how tense things are right now in NHL.
I am blown away there was more movement but it makes for a Sh8t Show come free agency because this weak group is going to get OVER paid unless the trade flood gates open up here soon. |

I don' t mind Tuch, but would rather have seen them go with Fabbri or trade down to take Ho Sang. Was really hoping they'd somehow make a deal for Virtanen. Pretty uneventful draft for the first time in awhile. |

Ho Sang would have been intriguing, but Yeo likely would have strangled him halfway through prospect camp. |

As I said in the blog I was hyped up on Sandheim and Fabbri with an eye on Hosang as well BUT after looking deeper into this Tuch kid he is a solid prospect to land at #18 going to a very strong program so he will be out there battling and getting ready to compete at NHL level so all good by me.
I like the 3rd round kid Belpido too although he is kinda jack of all trades master of none type, he was the captain of the NDTP and he was playing top pairing minutes for a team that featured manyhighly thought of defensive prospects. He profiles to be a Jared Spurgeon-esq type meaning over-achiever despite limitations. He has plenty of time to develop at Miami-Ohio and I bet he will get a ton of minutes there and be in a leadership role as well. at minimum this kid is a minutes eater in Iowa in 3-4 years or gets included in a trade somewhere down the line I bet.
Lots of fliers taken by Fletcher and Flahr in this class. Having some solid depth in your organizational prospects and a bunch of early 20 year olds on your NHL roster means some room to swing for the fences.
Anyone wanna call out there STEAL/Sleeper of this class out right now?
I say it will be Chase Lang. |

Tuch is a solid pick for you guys. He's already got the size for the NHL and he'll get the polish @BC. I really hoped he would drop to the Pens at #22. |

Well Vanek should be a member of the Wild in about 24 hours. Russo reporting Wild also interested in Jerome Iginla?!?! I'm guessing that's more circumstantial than anything.

Stoner and Prosser going to free agency. Dont' think either was tendered and offer as far as I know. Ek saying Wild in on Niskanen but Russo saying Sheehy wants 7 year deal, so guessing Fletch not going to dole out a max deal for an overated d-man that doesn't deserve it.
I'd like him for 4 - 5 years @ around $5 million per. Reportedly he and Sheehy looking for 7 years $42+ mill. Ridonkulous!!! |
