Career backups don't usually get put ahead of good starters
This conversation should be had next year after Schneider's first full season as a #1 |

As he should be.
I mean, really? "Snubbed"? - grand-magus
I love Rask. I think he's the best in the league.
But your logic is this: Lesser SV% and GAA, couple more starts a year warrants a top-3 goalie rating.
Better SV%, GAA, 2-3 less starts a year = not top-11 goaltender?
Again, not saying he's Rask. But he's certainly better than some of the guys listed higher.

I agree. I would take Schnider over Crawford. Just on the fact Schnider has the potential to be something great. |

I was way more shocked that Kane was as low as he is.. Like how is Kessler ranked higher? |

He also got snubbed by the author, who chose to post a picture of Corey Crawford instead of Cory Schneider. No respect. |

What has he done? Not much in comparison to those before him. Not every team has an 89 overall starter in net. Not saying he can't prove his worth this year, and their ratings are dynamic, so if he does well he will get boosted through out the season.
And to those complaining about the ratings: 1) see above, 2) 200 ft players always will rate higher than those who have one area of expertise. It's simple averages at that point. Tho, I have to say, Staal and Hall are highly overratedit would seem. |

I'll take the guy who's won a cup and is a proven playoff performer. When Schneider wins a playoff series, we'll come back to that discussion. |

These rating are always crap.
For instance.
Crosby Def awareness 95. Stick checking 92
OVI def awareness 85. Stkchck 88
Malkin 85. 88.
Kopitar 89. 88.
Toews 94. 93.
Dats 93. 92
Bergeron 92. 90.
Chara 91. 92.
Anyone with a brain would acknowledge that Crosby probably should NOT have a higher d awareness or stick check than ANY OF THE SECOND GROUP. But, the golden child does.
And OVI is, arguably one of the worst defenders in the league. Lets say even second half of the league.....hmmm, pretty good for someone so average at best.
Kopitar and Chara really got hosed on these two stats.
EA is all about the overall rating and how they are ranking the players in the NHL. If it was based on actual ATTRIBUTES it would be drastically different.
Video games can't mimic real world sports in many things.
Some players just give it there all all the time on the ice, other player only parts of the time, and that's one of the things that these game ranking can't compute. At least not yet. |

But Schneider's one playoff victory is worth several cups... |

It's not a "snub". While he may be individually as good as most of the guys on that list, he has yet to put together the body of work the rest of them had. Being a solid #2 behind Marty B for a half season does not a top 50 make.
Comparing him to a guy who already won it all and came to the 7th game of the conference finals (and would have beaten the Rangers, had they beaten the Kings)...it's homerism. Let's pull out of that vein and put on some clear lenses.
Honestly I think CS will be a top 15 goalie this year. But it's asinine to place him, untested, in that echelon. |
