The only reason I can think that would cause Nonis to fly back 2 time zones to Edm.
would be to have a second lunch.

Surprised they would start him at home. Get the jitters out on the road…

Hoping Lack has a good showing tonight.

Don't really care about the goalie controversy stuff, just want to see him do well and give Benning and Willie more options.

(and I want Horvat to stay as long as he doesn't sh!t the bed in these 9 games.)

Hmmm...

Elliott Pap doesn't think Horvat will play tonight.

"The Canuck forward lines are expected to remain the same as Tom Sestito and Bo Horvat were the only non-regulars on the ice this morning."

As I said, I would be surprised if Horvat played his first NHL game at home after being off for an extended amount of time. Less pressure to start him on the road.

Edit: would have been perfect to have him play protected minutes against teams like Calgary and Edmonton instead of TB, Dallas, and St. Louis.

I thought all that talk about a conditioning stint with Utica seemed a bit crazy, but after having not played in a game for what, 2 weeks or so... I think there is going to be pressure and butterflies no matter where the game is played.

More or less, I don't think it matters much... he must be going stir crazy by now.

Edit: I thought last night was the game to get into if he was healthy, guess he still isn't 100%

I think the "conditioning stint" is the exception to the rule. But I am no expert on that stuff - it was mentioned on here a week or two ago.

Was really hoping he wouldn't get sent back to junior but I guess it doesn't matter in the big scheme of things. It would just give us more to talk about.

Personally, if he's only going to play less than 10 minutes and protected ones at that for 9 games, we might as well send him back to junior and let him play on the top line in London and develop his offensive game more. It's not like we don't have enough centers to play in that spot anyways. I'd argue we have too many with Mattias, Vey and Richardson and even Dorsett can play center IIRC.

Was hoping the 3rd line c spot was his, but with Vey already penciled in on that line I don't think it would be smart to have both him and Vey playing together.

If he could average 10+mins a night, staying is an option. Maybe even send him to the wjc tourney, but I think Trevor said before if he was good enough to stay, he likely wouldn't participate in that tourney.

Yeah, it prolly makes more sense to send him back.

Yes, even 18/19 year old players can be sent to the AHL on a conditioning stint provided that the player agrees to go, and there is sufficient cause to warrant the move (i.e. recovering from injury). The rulebook suggests that the league can overturn this decision and even fine the team if it's been done for 'malicious' reasons (e.g. salary cap evasion), but clearly that's not the case with Horvat. It's pretty much the same thing Tampa Bay is doing with Drouin right now... and I don't believe that it has any bearing on the 9-game limit he can play before the final decision has to be made about where he'll play the rest of the year.

Too bad both aren't able to play in tonight's game, but it will be nice to see how the Canucks fare against some quality opposition.

I think Nonis flew in to trade Mattias and Markstrome for Fransen and Reimer and then trade Matthias and Markstrom to Fla for LU

I am not a Hansen fan as I've said on here but doubt I'd move him for Franson straight up. If you get fits with Edler then your head will explode with Franson
Hansen and Mathias for Franson and 2nd/3rd

Year older than Matthias. It is no secret that Canucks are looking for the big RH shot on the point for the PP. That is why they are trying Tanev there.

Maybe we are doing Dion for Bieksa

And for Nuckers viewing pleasure he is a couple of inches bigger than Matthias
