Carol Schram: Vancouver Canucks Game Review: Canucks Preyed Upon, Bieksa + Sestito Hurt The Vancouver Canucks will hit the road without Tom Sestito or, for a little while, Kevin Bieksa, after being defeated 3-1 at Rogers Arena on Sunday night.

One other housekeeping note for today: Andrew Ference was suspended for three games for his head hit on Zack Kassian on Saturday. That seems reasonable enough, under the circumstances.

Disagree with this but it is what it is.

No injury and a penalty called, Burrows got suspended more for not being penalized and a goal being scored because of it than anything.

People need to get over the NHL's suspension system and accept it for what it is. No point in whining about it at this point.

I'm more curious to see how Horvat will look and whether or not he still needs another year in junior like I and a few others suspect. And also to see how this team does in these next 4 games.

I like how the team looks so far this year. I think next year with the addition of Virtanen and hopefully another top pick this team can contend again.

Those are pretty hard to find, even quite a few top 5 picks aren't NHL-ready.

I am not whining, I was responding to the quote from Carol suggesting it was fair. That being said I have accepted the decision and have moved on. Also there is no point to quibble over the decisions of the Player Safety team.

What I really want to see is players that were affected and had their careers cut short because of the concussions to be in the committee. Lindros, Kariya would be great choices.

I am looking forward to the next few games to see how we respond. I think it ia too early for Bo. He had 5 games in Utica and had the preseason and did not do enough to impress. He needs another season to develop. Too bad that is he going to jrs and not Utica. I would like to see Bo play a full season in Utica with Shink and Jensen as his linemates to develop their chemistry.

Bieksa making the road trip, they can ill afford to have him out of the lineup. This team needs a young decent sized defenceman that play right now, injuries are going to happen and Corrado is not the answer. Time to start filling the holes Mike Gillis left.

I like how the team played last night. The 2nd and 3rd I felt it slipping away, but the biggest thing I noticed is the compete level. They just didnt seem to quit. I think we are getting closer to playing WD system the way he wants but we are not there just yet.

If one of those chances go in, we would have a good game. Couple unlucky breaks, offset by one lucky one for us and we lose. I didnt think they had quite enough to win this one, but I still like the play. I am sorry Tommy got hurt, but I think he would be sitting for a while anyways, I just dont see him helping us. It shortens the bench and that is not WD style.

While Sbisa is a work in progress still, I kinda like the way he plays. I think with the right coaching he will be solid. Edler with 28 mins. Sure hurts losing KB for the night. May have been a different night with him in.

We will see what the team is made of in this coming trip. .500 would be nice, but I really want to see us get to the next level of competing. It seems like we are tougher to play against this year and I also dont see us getting pushed around the same as years past. Nice to see.

I like what WD has done, and it seems like the team is buying into his approach. I am excited to see if he can take them to the next level now.

Carol, not surprised about the atmosphere. Times have changed in Canuck land and have for the last few years. It is not a place where the fans help the team at all. Pretty placid place to watch hockey. They get up more for texas stars games in Austin than they do for nucks games.

Mock draft has Vancouver selecting another small centre. I think Canucks go after a big winger next year . We have enough centres

BPA

The NHL draft is a big enough crapshoot as it is, go with the best prospect. Worry about positions later, it's not it'll be hard to trade a good young player.

What do you think about the Mathias Richardson line .it is getting crowded in the Centre spot?

Wonder if Bobby Sanguinetti can make it? Good size, moves the puck. They should bring him up for a look at some point.

I'm not against trading Matthias or moving him to wing and trading Hansen if Horvat is sticking around for the full season.

I mentioned him towards the end of the last blog. I'd rather see him get a shot than Weber.

This next stretch of games couldn't have come at a worse time!! Team is tired, would have made much more sense going into this week with a rested team instead of having a friggin week off at the beginning of the season.

Looking forward to seeing Bo Horvat play though, I'll be looking at his overall 200 foot game, his face-offs and for him to NOT be a minus player.

Bo Horvat will center that line if I was guessing and Matthias sits

Richardson Horvat Kassian has pretty darn good potential to be a great 3rd line imo

Not one with 1C upside potential, that (and defense) is what we lack more than anything, who's going to replace Henrik when the time comes? I don't see Gaunce, Horvat, McCann or Bonino being good enough to center a 1st line even if it's between Virtanen and Shinkaruk.
