Good to hear that Cousins is coming along. A couple years ago, there was speculation that he was going to be in the NHL as early as last season. Now it seems like next season is more reasonable. If he can be a Brad Marchand-type or poor man's Marchand, I'd be more than satisfied. |

I'm thinking even a poor man's Marchand is a fairly lofty expectation. Maybe a poor man's Marchand picked up at a yard sale. |

bill,
i saw this in another blog and wondered what you're thoughts are on this kid...i haven't seen him mentioned in any of your prospect updates.
"Philadelphia's fifth-round pick in 2010, Michael Parks. Parks, who is clearly an outsider in terms of making an NHL appearance with the franchise, made an interesting decision in the Summer not to attend the club's rookie activities, instead remaining behind in the Midwest to attend to working out and making his final collegiate season the best possible. Bernie Parent was on the Howard Stern show, and Jesus was it a riot.

Did he play anal ring toss?
I will have to listen to this later. I'm surprised Howard would have Bernie on. His stories are legendary, I wouldn't even think Howard would know who Bernie is. |

Marchand was the comparison used when he was coming out of juniors, mostly because his style was similar and he was putting up big numbers as an over-ager. If he can be a 4th line agitator that plays a solid two way game with some offense here or there (maybe 25 points a season in his prime years?) then I would be happy. |

amazing, to me anyway, that we have zero prospects in the ohl.
seems like things are generally on the right track with our top prospects, minus the broken jaw and torn acl.
marsh. my favorite dman ever. - hammarby31
Another weird thing......We have 3 guys in our top 12 forwards that were never drafted into the NHL and were unsigned FAs.
Is there a team that has more than that? |

I think Cousins plays the same style, but he just doesn't have comparable skills. I think 20-25 points in a bottom-6 role is realistic. |

I agree, I don't think the talent is there to be comparable to Marchand in the tangible ways. Cousins could end up being a less physical, more skilled Rinaldo which I am all for as well. |

Being more skilled than Rinaldo is comparable to being faster than Hal Gill and stronger than Danny Briere.

I'm just hoping that he one day states that Matt Read went to Jumanji State University. |

howard is an amazing interviewer, but this was not one of his best. the whole thing was a bit uncomfortable, perhaps because i know both so well (not personally). howard can usually get around not being knowledgeable about the peron's life, or even knowing who the guest is. this was one was off but got a lot better when doctor davis came on to explain the procedure.
i was shocked when i heard bernie was on the show.

For my fellow scotch drinkers:
Glenmorangie 18 Years Old "Extremely Rare"
The Highlands
The Glenmorangie 18 Years Old spends fifteen years of its life in classic Bourbon oak barrels. A portion is then transferred to Oloroso sherry barrels for the final three years of maturation. These barrels are then reunited to create this silky Scotch, tasting of nuts, dried sticky figs, dates and vanilla. These flavors meld together on the palate in perfect harmony, leaving a nice creamy finish with a hint of fruit, floral, almonds and vanilla
Tried it over the weekend, fantastic stuff. Silky smooth with a great finish!
