RE #3: It's not 'doom and gloom'.....it's realism. We're not a very good hockey team and our 8 wins and 11 losses prove it.

Aside from our record, the real reason Deboer should be on the hot seat is that the team doesn't play with any motivation/tenacity. Too often, they look content to skate around for 60 minutes, collect their paychecks, and go home.

Its the coach's job to get the team ready to play.

What's with Zid actually playing some D last night?!
Severson was definitely good again but his shots need to hit the net a little more.

And it's all he did besides lumber around the ice in a useless matter. Same with gionta. I mean what does gio do besides make an occasional good play on the pk? How those two play over josefson is mind boggling

Shouldn't be any real big surprise that they lost last night. There is no heart on the team. Everyone was slow and never seemed to have any interest in advancing into the zone to score.

“We’ve talked about it all year. We haven’t really played a full 60 minutes as team,” Schneider said.

Sooo 20 games in and they still haven't. Good job Petey

We should be happy every time he opts not to cross check.

When you start 4 defensemen 24 and younger, lapses will happen, but the risk is worth the reward when you've groomed a solid squad from inside the system, so the Devils will have to cope with growing pains in this regard. How do you counteract this? With a halfway competent offense. No where to be found. Same crap yet again.

BTW, if you've read the Post about last night's game, here's to the fact checker:

"At 42, Jagr is the oldest player in the NHL and he leads the Devils in scoring with nine goals and 12 points."

Elias is one of about 50 players to have taken at least 280 FOs so far this season...his 41.9% is by far the worst

Gio (frank)ing sucks on the PK he takes up no space and doesn't block that many shots. I'm so sick of Lou and Pete's obsession with AHL players. Gio, Bernie, Harold, and Tootoo are all (frank)ing god awful. The fact they are even options to play and we aren't decimated with injuries like CBJ is a joke. Just shows how terrible we are. I could care less what the standings say my eyes tell me we blow and management is oblivious to the issues so nothing will change. Status quo.

Would you guys have given up the stanley cup finals appearance to get a 1st rounder for Parise? Interesting question, but I don't think I would. We took the series to 6 games after all.

Could have been in our hands if fayne didn't miss an empty net and kovy didn't ring the crossbar. Both times the Kings came back down the ice seconds later and scored for the win.

Rough times and if only Marty could of stood on his head on that 5min PK. Instead we where done in that game before it really started. Also didn't someone shoot it out on that and put us down 5 on 3? Or am i making that up.

No. Where Lou (frank)ed up was the years after when he didn't trade Clarky and Fayne. He also screwed us by resigning Sal.

The result of PDB'S stubbornness glares out at us yet again! How u don't put Henrique between elias and have josefson in between brunner and rutuu is insane. At least zubrus is finally on the fourth line where he belongs. The sad part of this is it won't end anytime soon and we have more frustration to endure on this road trip once PDB scratches gelinas or Larsson to get harrold In the lineup. We all know this is coming. It's inevitable.

I would've resigned sal to a one year deal he wasn't too bad in year one. Where they won't way too far was giving him three years and naming him captain. Terrible move

I don't know if it's lack of heart, but i agree with Crusher; we're just not that good.

When you think about it.....the team is horrid at face-offs, is old and slow, takes too many stupid penalties, hits the pipes or shoots wide way too many times, plays like it is a real chore to have to go out and skate and compete, has a coach that seemingly is great behind closed doors and a captain that uses telepathic thoughts to get the team charged up......and yet they are still in the hunt for a playoff spot? Hard to believe......
