Love the title Tanner. - Yeti1181
Haha thanks. Sorry it's so heavily Oilers themed btw, but it couldn't be helped. |

So the Oilers are essentially 98% of fans on a message board.
"We want a top pairing defender so we'll trade you (middle of the road player), (average prospect), and a mid-to-late round pick." |

The Oilers will win a Stanley Cup before the Canadians, Senators, Canucks, Jets, and Flames. And all six of those clubs will win one before the Leafs. |

I like your style. Way to perfectly embrace today's theme.
Also might I add that the Coyotes will make the playoffs before the Flames? |

The Oilers definitely overvalue their players. I remember a couple years ago I was saying the oilers should trade Yakapov for Hamilton (this was after the lockout season. Every oilers fan actually got mad at me for suggesting that. My reasoning was the oilers needed a dman that is ready for the NHL but would fit into the young group. The would of still been able to draft nurse which would give them a nice young core going forward. |

Arizona currently is tied for the 12th best PP in the league & if they had better depth on offense & could ice a better 2nd PP unit would be even better.
Hanzal isn't really a better option than Vermette. The reality is both are soft #2 centers or solid #3's.
As for icetime. Gagner & Hanzal's are only nominally worse than Doan & Vermette's. Yes Hanzal kills penalties & Doan doesn't but reducing Doan's icetime isn't the answer.
Getting a legitamate #1 C & 2 more top 6 wingers or 1 top 6 winger & a #1 & 2 C & moving Gagner to RW is the solution. With the wealth of riches at D in Arizona this shouldn't be impossible. Difficult yes but not impossible. Hell even if the just got 1 solid #2 C & a 2nd line winger it would be a significant improvement.
That with the push down effect from acquiring these 2 or 3 new forwards depending upon how you want to deploy Gagner would make the 3rd & 4th lines better helping the overall offence both 5 on 5 & on the PP.
Arizona let Whitney go as they didn't want to give him 2 years yet he was great in the roll he performed in Arizona 2 years ago. Worse letting Vrbata walk for nothing & not giving him the money to stay was devistating.
Arizona's problems aren't Doan's & Vermette's. There expecting players like Erat to score & giving him quality icetime are a problem. Expecting Gagner & Hanzal to be more than what they are, 15 to 20 goals & 40 to 45 points & 15 goals to 40 point players respectively is unrealistic. Hanzel rode is match up with 1 of the best scorers in the NHL for 3 seasons in Vrbata to 40 point seasons. Almost any NHL quality C could score 40 points passing the puck to Vrbata.
Move Yandle for a 2 players that help now that meet the criteria stated above. Move 1 of the young Dman to try & address the other.
Arizona simply lacks the offensive talent currently to score sufficiently to win. Blaming Vermette & especially Doan isn't the answer. Give Doan a #1 C or at the very least a solid #2 better than either Hanzal, pushing Vermette to #3 behind Hanzel. Get another top 6 LW moving Boedker back to LW with Doan & whoever that might be.
Boedker, #1 or solid #2 C, Doan.
#2 LW, Hanzel, Gagner.
Kopikowski, Vermette, Erat.
Klinkhammer, Vitale, Moss ; when healthy.
Spares. Chipchura, Crombeen. Bringing kids up due to injuries when necessary.
Thoughts from the bench.

Avs are a team you should be trading with. I'm sure they'd love Yandle/OEL for one of their forward studs. |

The problem for me is they aren't going to trade MacKinnon, Landeskog or Dushene. I don't really believe O'Rielly is an ideal top pairing, top of the team player. |

First of all man, thanks for the Coyotes feedback and for giving such a well thought out post. I agree with most of, unfortunatly I'm on a deadline and don't have time to parse the whole thing, but suffice to say I agree with you in theory at least on about all of it.
I would say this though: My point has been since before last seasons deadline that they need to make a move for an elite forward and move some vets to make way for youth. I would love a trade, but as far as the status quo goes, I don't blame Vermette or Doan, I blame Tippett. Those guys are simply not the two most offensive players on the team and their ice time needs to go to Hanzal/Gagner. Boedker is obviously the first line left winger, but he's going to score more with Hanzal, who I think you are really underating. He's only 27 and has another level to his game. He also creates a ton of room, especially on the PP. You could add ten points to the 60 he was prorated on last season if he played top line PP.
As for Vbrata, he was the first of many vets I wanted moved. He's doing good now, but I understood and defended the need to move on from him. Clearly he'd help now though, don't get me wrong.
PS Stop by more often. We have like ten regulars on this board and god love em, but I don't think more than 2 of them are Coyotes fans!

I'll stop by and I am a Yotes but it's painful to read your stuff.
Lessio was OK? No points in 3 games, he didn't kill PPs, not hits doubt he had more than 2 shots and no scoring chances, he was horrible.
Will not be a NHL player, quote me. |

Guys like you respond this way when someone does not agree with what they write..you call them a troll.
Show me the data that indicates that Lessio was OK? Right you don't have any. You sit somewhere else and write your stuff just hoping you will get a response. You did, here's another one Domi will be no better than a 3rd line plumber, write it down.

What are your guys thoughts around a trade of Yandle for 2015 1st and Perron/Purcell?
Ideally we could also probably use Vermette, what about Yandle and Vermette for 2015 1st, Perron/Purcell and ???
