Mike Smith played so bad against the Canucks you knew they would win this one going into the break. Wow the Oilers goaltending is the poops. |

You knew they would win this one because they own the Oilers. Too bad its their last game against them until next year. |

There isn't bad luck at play; that's a losers excuse. He isn't shooting well and he was never anything better than an oft injured, tops 50 pps player. If you want to talk luck, look at the fact that he's healthy. Just because you set him, Mike Smith, and other players on pedestals they don't deserve to be on doesn't make for bad luck - it makes for unrealistic ideals and bad journalism.
Yotes for the tank, 2015, and the relocation, 2017. We'll call them the "southwestern coyotes" to better recognize the area, rather than the "las Vegas yotes" |

Ya if they played the Oilers 82 times a year they could draft Eichel and win the Stanley Cup.

I love how I watch every coyotes game and offer empirical proof to back up what I'm saying, but your opinion about a team you don't watch is supposed to mean something. The only person I put on a pedestal is Santa Clause and then, only because tomorrow is his birthday. |

Tomorrow is a celebration of the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ - it's not Santas birthday.

I will admit that kinda took me by surprise, I'm not religious but I am spiritual and I do believe in God.
Ok back to hockey. |

Tanner + attempted humor + attempted sarcasm =
He readily confuses the meaning of proof with the certainty that that reality aligns with his biased opinion. Gagner good for for 70 points! |

Tanking would imply that the Oilers are actively trying to be this bad |

I'm not sure I was being sarcastic at all, you have no argument and sound ridiculous. |

I thought it best to publicly stay away from the topic of religion, you should not confuse a joke with what i might ot might not believe in. I thought Santa was the least offensive Christmas reference i could make. I suppose I was wrong!! |

Merry Christmas.
I hope Santa or Jesus or Kwanzaa-Bot or whoever brings you the Wii-u you want or at least that Red Ryder carbine-action, two hundred shot Range Model air rifle with a compass in the stock and this thing which tells time that you keep asking for.

The fact is MacT is one of the most discipline GM's I have ever seen in my life. I'm not joking when I say it isn't easy to do what he's doing.
Of course he knows successful teams build from the back end. He doesn't want to be successful. Of course he knows about every guy on the market for every team. He isn't shopping. I'm sure the guy gets everything short of death threats (and maybe a few of those, too). It simply doesn't matter. Nobody, and I mean nobody, I have ever seen, has been this committed to tanking without unloading any talent.
Bravo, Craig. I tip my hat to you.
Imagine for a moment you were the GM of the Edmonton Oilers. When you were hired you were given one mandate, and that was to get in the playoffs for the 2016/17 season. Would you try to win games this year? No. You would draft Jack Eichel. You would do a lot of what is happening right now. Other than Nikitin, I'd say everything is right on schedule. |

Honestly, I don't think you're that far off. Say what you will about Mctavish, he knows as well as I do what you're going to win in the NHL with a first pairing of Shcultz and Ference and two AHL goalies and a rookie second line centre.
But, whether its this year or next year or two years from now, Petry, Nurse, Klefbom, Schultz and Marancin will compose most of a top notch defense group. Now, not all those guys are gonna make it, but most of them should one day be pretty good. Add in a collection of forwards that is already incredible but will likely add yet another stud to the group and its going to be insane.
Hell, it might suck this year but the worse it gets, the bigger the pay off. |
