besides stewart and stafford, which "surprise name" will be dealt now or before the deadline from the team? and, for what?
Peanuts and a bag a pucks don't count! |

for all of the skill that drew stafford has, he is so underwhelming. im not surprised you think stewart will draw/has drawn more interest. |

Larsson, imo, would be a wild card...would fit well on a team like los angeles or Detroit as a young, two-way depth player with upside...
would he be worth a third-rounder? maybe...the sabres don't have one this year

I don't think there is any benefit to acquiring a third rounder right now. The Sabres are nearing the cap for professional contracts and at some point are going to have to essentially throw away decent prospects. Am I any bit right about that? |

Stafford has quietly amassed more points than stewart, but stewie is a more recognizable name having been on st Louis...
those two are probably one and two when it comes to rw, powerforwards available |

I'd take a pick in the 2018 draft in any round to get rid of Stafford. |

My bets would be on Larsson, Hodgson, Mitchell, or Folingo (if a high 1st is included).
The issue is, normally you get draft picks back and the Sabres don't need any of that, unless they plan to trade that for prospects or current players.
I do love the trade deadline excitement and I was slightly disappointed last season (due to Miller and Ott package a few days before), but hopefully it will be better this year! However, I would not mind them trading before the deadline too, just dont make the current Sabres roster better before then (if not the rest of the season) please! |

yes and no.. they can start trading some of them away. plus who knows where we will be in 3 years with contracts. we have time to let these guys mature in jrs and over seas before we sign them to an ELC.. |

I don't think the market for Doan will be even half what it was just a few seasons ago when Buffalo was interested in him.
He's a leader yes, but he's getting older and his numbers look more and more pedestrian each season....he'll prob. hit 20G and just under 50 pts this season, still above average, but i suspect it's a slow decline each season. |

and that is why you are not the GM
i wonder if we start doing things like that (taking picks in years to come) to help with the amount of contracts we have |

As long as Stafford is finally gone I don't care what they get for him. |

Larsson is a RFA this year, so if we have no plans for him moving forward, maybe he gets moved and if he does, it most likely would be a draft pick, which could be used to get a roster player for next year if needed.
I want to like Larsson, but I feel like most the other players, playing on a bad Buffalo team has hurt him, as playing in Rochester he plays with better players and seems to be doing quite well (for a 2nd-3rd line player). |

My guess is 12 of those will either be traded or not offered contract
I do not think that will be an issue
do you see the sabres resigning
Matt Ellis
Patrick Kaleta
Drew Stafford
Chris Stewart
Andrej Meszaros
Andre Benoit
Tyson Strachan
Drew Bagnall
Nathan Lieuwen
Kevin Sundher
Jordan Samuels-Thomas
Torrey Mitchell |

I think more likely we will see picks packaged together to either move up in the draft or to get a prospect that TM highly regards.
He is going to want to start making an impact on the ice next season. Picks 2 or 3 years down the road won't matter to him. Not yet any way. |

if, and it's a big if, los angeles is interested in landing myers in a trade, they'll need to move Richards and his bloated contract...Larsson in a bottom-six role might be appealing to them...and it wouldn't surprise me if he flourished in an environment like that |
