Carol Schram: Vancouver Canucks Game Review: Feb. 5 vs. San Jose, Trade Market Shifting
Trade talk gets louder after the Vancouver Canucks were solidly beaten 5-1 by the San Jose Sharks on Thursday night at Rogers Arena.

Perhaps the Rangers should replace a Swede with a Swede? AV would even have some familiarity with Eddie Lack from training camps in Vancouver. I hope Trader Jim's on the phone, seeing if he can provide the asset that the Rangers need in their time of trouble.

Would miss Eddie, but if the price is right, they have to move a goalie ...

If the Canucks acquire Evander Kane I will cheer for him but will be extremely irritated if he costs anywhere near as much as I expect he will. I think a lot of you guys are severely overrating him because he can hit.

I am accurately rating him as better than all current Canucks and the best prospect in the entire league for creating a new first line around.

Who ever said Eddie was on the market??? That really seems like something Team1040 dreamed up on a slow news day and the story stuck.

1) Kane isn't a prospect

2) No one can "accurately" predict the future.

I'm a go for Kane as long as it doesnt involve Horvat, Virtanen, McCann. I would part with any other prospect/s in a package. It would have to be an off season move of course. That would mean the Jets not likely taking vets since the playoffs had passed. No need for GT's in the Peg either... the package could be costly for us.

Kane is very physical top 6, has scored 30, is young. He bridges the gap nicely.

It is a risky move none the less. Attitude and maturity issues and the big question of health concerns as well.

Benning at one point was giving Markstrom a ringing endorsement, and they want to keep Markstrom... Leaving Eddie as the guy they may trade.

Either way, I don't really care which goalie goes, just as long as we get a useful asset in return.

Didn't Markstrom say he wouldn't resign with the Canucks if he wasn't going to play NHL? They need to get rid of one of them. Markstrom has more upside to him.

I voted no. Regardless of 'potential' ,I have no interest in adding an immature, spoiled little brat who throws hissy fits and divides the locker room. We just got rid of Kesler.

I think the slipping canadain dollar will give us more buying power this UFA market. We can address some of the gaps with that. For those that need explanation...the dipping dollar means an immediate 20-30% raise since we pay in US dollars. More FA would sign in Canadian market for short term.

Funny how without Kesler this team is still poop.....LA is a team full of douches, as is Boston and they have seen lots of success. I think the locker room stuff only is brought up when you are losing and then is overrated as an excuse.

Coincidence that this Kane drama occurred during a 5 game losing streak.
Kesler goes from the guy with the most heart to a cancer and POS.
Luongo goes from best goalie to ever of played here to a selfish bum.

I wouldn't trade Jake Virtanen, Bo Horvat and MaCann in the deal! Shinkaruk maybe! Shinkaruk, Jensen, Kassian, Markstrom and 1 around pick this year for Kane!

A lot of people on here discount him, but I wouldn't trade Cole Cassels either.
I love his game, hits, fights, penalty kill, PP.

Those are the type of prospects you want around.

I hope we are getting more in return than just kane with this. Shink is improving massively and will be ready for an NHL trial next season, same with Jensen. Since we will miss the playoffs our #1 will be top 15 pick in a deep draft pool.

Anaheim might give up way more then I post for Myers and go after Kane! Maybe even better for Kane! So I don't see it happen for Vancouver unless they offer Virtanen or Bo Horvat to make it happen!
