Wow, that's very intelligent of you |

wow, what a joke this trade is. Did we really need to give up a first and a young prospect ? I get the Myers part of the trade, but to give up an Armia who never even got a chance with the big club or a young prospect like Lemieux is just dumb. Gave up way to much for way to little. |

Armia and Lemieux may come back to bite the sabres in the ass. |

Well love it or hate it, this is why we wanted Tim Murray as our GM. Smart and aggressive. Look, I've been a fan of Myers and I'm a little concerned about giving up solid prospects in Lemieux and Armia, but you have to look at what we're getting back.
It's not just Kane (the 4th overall pick in 2009) but also Bogosian (3rd overall pick in 2008). Those are two cornerstone pieces for the Sabres moving forward. I'm kind of surprised Chevy would part with Bogosian..... |

They got the best player in the deal in Bogosian.
Kane acted like a turd in Winnipeg. Do you honestly think he will act like a saint in the US version of Peg in Buffalo? I don't. |

How could you not love this trade by the Sabres? Bogosian and Myers were in the same draft in 08 and Myers had expectations through the roof after his rookie season. He wasn't panning out so we got a great defenseman to replace him. Also our prospects such as McCabe will be up next season to replace Myers.
As for Kane why not go out and get someone who will help McEichel next season? Over the past three seasons he's on par with Malkin, Staal, Hossa, and Gaborik when it comes to goal scoring. He won't play this year so he gets to recover and we get to stay at the bottom of the rankings.
One last point for those that said we gave up too much..Stafford is an UFA after this season and he probably won't resign with WPG, Armia wouldn't have made this team in a few years, and the 1st round pick we give up is the latest pick which will probably be the Blues that will fall 25-29th.
If you look at it that way it's Myers and Lemieux for Kane and Bogosian..and I'll take it.

Good points until the bolded part. How can you just make that blanket statement? Couldn't you also say the same about Lemieux then? And the first round pick could end up being another Lemieux. I'm not saying I don't like the deal, just pointing out that you can't just make those assumptions to help yourself justify the trade.

How can you honestly say that this was a "coup" for Buffalo? Do they have any leadership in that office ? I am surprised they didn't toss in Girgensons as well..Go back to Ottawa. |

Sabres get 2 former top 5 draft selections. Who are probably the 2 best players now AND moving forward in this deal.

The defenseman then become a swap and we gave up Stafford, Lemieux, Armia and a late first round pick in the reported deepest draft in years for damaged player that's a head case..oh yeah! great deal...I guess we have not suffered enough. |

Bwhahaha. I thought the Sabres didn't have to trade Myers and were only going to trade him if it was an "overpayment." This is just a classic "you take my over hyped high draft pick bust and I'll take yours." Although by wrangling out Stafford and a late 1st rounder Winnipeg gets the edge.
At least Buffalo has a perfect replacement for Chris Stewart's over hyped mediocrity for next season. Maybe they can actually make their team better when they trade him.

That was a poor choice of words. What I meant to say is that Armia is replaceable. I feel as though Lemieux has more potential than Armia, which to me hurts more to lose Lemieux. |

Understood. I always look at it as you have to give up something to get something. Murray must really like the guys he is getting. My name isn't Garth, so I'm not going to pretend I know the ins and outs of each of these young players. I guess we have to trust that he is making the right deal. |

Just think of it this way. Next year we will have Kane and McDavid or Eichel together, Reinhart centering Molson and Ennis on line 2, and Girgensons centering line three. On the point we have Zadarov, Risto, and Bogosian as our top three with prospects like McCabe coming through the system.
As Rick Jeanneret would probably say, "These guys are going to be good...scary good." |

Oh no, I'm just really happy people can STFU about it now. Although if I knew the Sabres would throw in a 1st rounder and a prospect with Myers for a 15-20 goals a year guy and a bottom four dman I might have at least entertained the thought. |

And the Sabres are any better?
For a team who has won nothing, ever. You're pretty cocky. |
