The Sabres win right now because they have two players that will immediately impact the team next season. Kane is a top 6 guy. Bogs is a top 4 Dman and personally I feel an upgrade over Myers.

The Jets can win this trade in the long run if Armia, Lemieux, or the 1st rounder turn into a 1st or 2nd liner that produces. Stafford is a rental and could be helpful but I doubt he will help much. Myers is the big question mark. Can he play better on a better team? Can he be that guy that people saw in his rookie season? No one knows. So there is a lot of risk with taking him.

Will the addition of Myers and Stafford help them stay in the playoffs this year?

I feel that's a relevant topic as they've never made it.

Funny how most Sabre fans on this site would have said NO to this trade if it were Myers for everyone from Winninpeg 2 days ago. They would have said it wasn't enough of an overpayment for such a high caliber firt pariring defenseman like Myers. Do you know how many minutes he logs every night!?!?!?!?! Now the Jets lost this deal even though you traded Myers, 2 of your top winger prospects, a first and Stafford

Now I'm sure you're not one of "those" sabre "fans since they have all of a sudden vansihed from existence but come on. After everything we've all heard from most of this fan base how can any of you possibly say you won this trade?

I'm not a Sabres fan but if they truly want to win this trade Tim Murray should take all of the interest in Evander Kane and put him back on the block at the draft. Yes he is a top 6 forward but he Core of this team will have an average age of 20 after the draft so use him to add a 2015 first and a blue chip prospect. Possibly out of Arizona.... guaranteed top 7 pick and a Domi or Bjorgstrand?

Armia is the x-factor in this trade. I believe he will be ready to step into a top six role starting next year. This kid is ultra skilled but has had multiple injuries since coming over to North America. If he can stay healthy, I could see him being an impact player for the jets relatively soon. He was the one piece I wanted to keep in this deal for Buffalo.

I think both teams got something they wanted but I think the Jets win the deal. They dealt a player percueved as a "problem" so they were at a disadvantage. They include Bogo who is not performing at his salary level, and the goalie is a throw in. So they deal a problem, who is currently overpaid, and a overpaid/underperforming D. Buffalo gets out of the Myers deal as he's also quite overpaid for his performance, a small rental who prob wouldn't have fetched more than 3rd/4th rdr, two high quality prospects, and a late first rdr (because they have the luxury of having 3 this summer).

So to me Jets get the better of the deal as this helps them eliminate a problem player, eliminate a underperforming D, and a contract in the goalie for help now, and in the future.

Sabres get two guys with term on their deals which would be huge considering buffalo is prob a tough sell to UFA's right now. One is another underperforming D but the other has 30 goal potential. However, that player has been a bit of a hot mess and just had major shoulder surgery where he just said in a interview that his shoulder would pop out 2-3 times a game. That's damaged goods and who knows how that recovery will actually be.

To me it's a big gamble by the Sabres with big upside to help next season. The jets get quality this season, with potential down the road, and the big value of a late first rdr. Jets win big.

You keep banging the drum man, on literally every single blog about this trade... Congrats you have a good team to root for after a long terrible stretch; but honestly no one wants to hear you keep talking crap about Buffalo, let it go. Are you 12?

Maybe one day we can move past the notion that every trade has to have a clear-cut winner and loser. No reason some trades can't benefit both teams.

I'm replying to a post that a Sabre fan is saying Myers is not a good defenseman. Why the sudden change of heart? I have seen a grand total of 3 Sabre fans say that all season now that number has grown exponentially I like many other people are wondering why the sudden change of heart? What does my age have anything to do with this? It's a legitimate question. Why are you so defensive I think is the real question?

This seems like a good idea.

Here's a proposal I think might work:

Buffalo trades:

Kane, Bogosian, goaltender prospect Jason Kasdorf

to Winnipeg, in return for:

Myers, Stafford, Armia, Lemieux, and either the NYI or STL first rounder (whichever is lower)

in the blink of an eye he went from top pairing, top 10 in the league defenseman to top four maybe, but plenty of bad nights.

He went from "must be an overpayment to get him" to being part of an overpayment.

I see two winners right now. Can change if the "problemchild" hype around Kane continues. Buffalo gets closer to their goal of getting a top2 pick and Winnipeg gets more competitive this year and solidifys their future in the NHL.

Wouldn't be so defensive if I didn't see the same post on every blog... I understand where you're coming from; and honestly I don't know how to feel about the trade. I, like many others, believe Myers has some potential. I guess it's not a change of heart for fans; it's dealing with accepting a trade, just being a fan of the team and being positive about it. None of us can change what happened yesterday, so obviously people want to make themselves feel good about it. I do believe we gave up way too much; but we also got two really good players. We will see I guess, I think you'd see a similar reaction to most fans of any team.
