Overall, I think Lehner still needs time in AHL. Doesn't seem sharp out there and is prone to a lot if bad goals. Or is this just the best we can expect? |

my god.....he's 23
people need to (frank)ing relax about lehner......how many 23 year starters are there in the league right now? hell, how many #1 guys are there that are younger than 25 or 26?

CharlieBox.... Just curious on Zibanejad. He seems to stick it to you almost every game since you made your dumb comment.
"Looks like he is going to be a bust"
LOL - Outside of RNH and Landeskog he is one of the best players from that draft. On pace for over 20g and 45-50pts, in only his second true full NHL season.
My mind is still boggled from your comment. |

I agree with this. He needs time. People need to be patient. I have no doubt people will run him out of town with too high of expectations, but its rare for a goalie to find the net as a starter before the age of 25-26. Im not saying he is the next Price, but he is a good example. 2-3 years ago, people were wondering if he will live up to the hype.... with time, he showed everyone. |

My point is that is his time better spent as a backup, or playing 60+ AHL games. If Anderson doesn't get hurt, what are we looking at 25-30 games max? Hard to develop with that |

price is a perfect example. i remember when the habs traded halak, most fans were PISSED that they didn't deal price instead. now, price is probably going to be a hart trophy candidate, and likely vezina front runner.
goalies aren't like forwards or d-men......they take WAAAYYYY longer to develop. |

Either way, that ship has sailed so no use dwelling on the past. He would need waivers now and he would definitely not clear. |

well.... here's to wishing Anderson, Phillips, Neil, Lehner and MacArthur a full, yet very long recovery
Kidding aside, I hope Mac is OK - that was a brutal collison with a very big man.
I know I am just repeating what the announcers said, but it was really nice to see the Carolina training staff rush out to help in what appeared to be a very serious situation. Their professionalism was outstanding.
If we can see a silver lining on this cloud, it would be that some of the team's AHL players (Pageau, Prince) will now see an increased role to see how they respond to life in the NHL. |

it worked fine for guys like price, rask, howard, anderson, bobrovsky, miller, etc, etc, etc
lehner played a couple of years in the AHL, then a few years as a backup, then he takes over as the starter. that's how almost every goalie develops. |

Don't rag on Lehner too hard. He's still young. Keep Anderson and Lehner and the team is still good in that position for the foreseeable future.
The kid is young and is learning every game. Goalies face a ton of adversary so it's good to get the losing out now when he's young. A guy like Lehner will be hungrier year after year. Out of Anderson and him I'd trade Anderson well before trading Lehner. Not even close in my opinion.
Hoffman, Zibanejad, Stone and Prince were all great as far as the forwards were last night. I'd like to acknowledge that every game I've seen Stone play live I've always noticed the good habits he has on the ice and how dangerous he is to the opposing team in clogging up passing lanes and being responsible with the puck. I'm more excited about Stone's career than I am about Hoffman's. I think they will both turn out to be very good players but I have more joy in seeing Stone's development because I view him as a better player in taking into account all situations. |

Im curious to see what the Sens do about goaltending going forward.
I think they should reward Hammond with at least a game to start.
But I would hate to see them go out and acquire some useless goalie and give up a 7th round pick for him.
I would consider a 'Future Considerations' trade LOL, to take a goalie off some teams books. Like a Jason Labarbera

i can't see them making a trade......just sign an FA (like st louis did with brodeur) to a 2-way deal, and waive him when lehner and andy are healthy. if nothing else, it helps "team tank" |

Is now the perfect time to call on Jacob Markstrom? Him and Lehner I can see as our future goaltending tandem. This off season Anderson will be traded (or at the deadline). |

I've like Zibby's development so far. I wouldn't say he is growing into a 1st line centre, but he certainly looks more than capable to be an everyday 2nd line centre. He seems to make things happen now morose than the start of the season. Having Hoffman and Ryan as wingers also helps his game. Turris, on the other hand, is still struggling to show any kind of offensive consistency.
Even when he makes mistakes, watching Ceci is exciting. He is going to be a big piece to our blue line going forward. People need patience.
Lerner needs to work on his attention span or something. I've never seen a guy who looks so intense one minute, then slacks off and cheats in the goal the next. Not writing him off yet by any means, but that stuff has to be improved. He got a real good stretch of games to get in a groove and show the team he is the man moving forward, but he did not show up. Hopefully those kinks work themselves out by next season. |

Zib is interesting. I agree it's too early to say he is developing into a number one center. It's certainly possible, but I think we should see him produce as a second line center first. I think he's almost there, just needs more consistency.
His flashes of brilliance are great, but they've been too far and in between. He has lots of room to grow though, and is still very young. |

I said as a top 6, dumbass. Love how you always purposely omit that.
Of course he is going to be an NHL player. Put him on a 'good' team, and he would be a 3rd or 4th line center right now.
I am honestly not sure what some of you see in him, but he just doesn't have the 'smarts' to me to be a first line center. Unless something magical happens to him, he's a 2nd line center at best. Which is ok with me.
Realistically, I think he will be like a Mike Fisher. 3rd line center on a good team and 2nd line center on a mediocre to weak team.
Like Fisher, he is very "North/South" with a heavy shot and but not much playmaking ability.

Hammond's had a rough year in Bingo so far. It will be very hard to win with him in Net. |

No you said a bust. On a good team, Hoffman, Stone and others aren't slotted as high either. Makes no difference. If anything though, playing on a good team while slotted on a 3rd line, he may still get equal points because the talent around him is better. And, right now he is playing 1st line and 2nd line minutes VS the other teams better lines, yet still producing, so again, your comments are all bogus.
The guy is well on his way to being an everyday top 6 player and perhaps could shape out to be a 1st line C in a few years. Time will tell. But make no mistake, you said you're thinking he could be a bust. Don't try to massage your dumb remark into something else. |

Been following Lehner since day one and there is enough evidence to be concerned. He's blowing up chance after chance to seize opportunity and I haven't seen the flashes of brilliance that should put him above the majority of NHL prospects. |
