I wonder if AV will plant a guy high on the blueline on PK to pick off the drop pass.

MG wasn't as bad as people make him out to be, but he was arrogant and a wiener. The bad decisions he made were magnified and it cost him. Not dumping Ron Delorme right away hurt him on the draft front cuz drafted players were never available to fill in holes in the lineup from his tenure by and large.

He was as bad as we made him out to be. We lost two number one goaltenders because of the Circus he caused.

If Torts was truly his decision then add total incompetence, as well.

No doubt...this could be ugly tonight.

I personally think this is it for the Canucks/Flames honeymoon so far this year.

Looking ahead for both clubs pretty tough games over the next 5-6 while LA is surging and Minny has an 'easier' sched over their next 6 or so. I'm not counting SJ out of the picture yet either. They won't slump forever.

I think we have waited a bit too long to get the impact player we needed to solidify a playoff spot for sure. Tough calls for Benning I know but here we are.

If Van and Calgary can only manage 4 pts each out of their next 5-6 games and LA, SJ and especially Minny surge up it's going to be a long last 20 games of the year or so looking up at everyone that is 6-9 pts ahead of us.

I touched on this a bit at seasons start. Since playoffs are a priority if we wait until the last week of Feb to acquire a major need in the lineup it's gonna be a grind and not necessarily a good one. Hopefully somehow we can muster 6 pts out of this road trip and stay in the race...

Big roadtrip with lots of hurting bodies. We're still in limbo until we see how things go next week. I'm guessing we play .500 and don't make a splash

There's growing sentiment that we aren't poised to tank until next year

Yeah I hear that....you think another near miss for the playoffs will shake loose a couple of those NMC's?
Its a problem when you are too good to land a top 5 pick and not good enough to do more than squeek into the playoffs.
But good idea to wait....too many big time sellers in toronto ,Ari and Buffalo....let some the pickings get slimmer.

Squeaking into playoffs wouldn't be bad if we got good prospect depth and they need experience before the team makes the next step, see Winnipeg this year or Canucks ca. 2002

If anyone gets traded at TDL it would probably be one of the D-men...Hamhuis or Bieksa seems to be popular choices for to be traded

Expecting a Stanley Cup of course...
either that or McDavid - but that one is just too far out of reach. No chance on McDavid when you are completing against Edmonton.

Speaking of which, if you ask nice, we might give you Kassian for Yakupov if you promise to throw in a 2015 1st.

We're definitely in no-man's land and thus will have to rely on Benning and co. to really make our first two picks count in the upcoming draft. Seems likely that we either finish in a wild card spot with a first round exit or barely miss and finish 9th/10th. I don't expect the Canucks to be in the rental market and I don't expect them to trade a core player either. Only thing I see happening is a trade where one or two of Lack/Matthias/Higgins/Kassian is traded for a young player and/or pick.
