I think that the Coyotes are the worst. And I agree, I think that the Oilers are actually a good step above the Leafs, Buffalo, and Arizona. |

The Leafs are not as bad as they look. What they are doing is the most blatant tank job I've ever seen.
Its pathetic. |

Not any more blatant than the Coyotes or Buffalo. Less actually since they didn't totally gut their team. If they got rid of Lupul, Bozak, Dion, Bernier you might have a case.
They are just really crappy. |

Do the Sabres have a player of OEL's talent level? No, ok then. - tomburton99
Doesn't matter. Sure, OEL is the best player on either roster, but when you compare the other 18 players, the Sabres are so much further ahead that it ends up being way more than the difference between OEL and whoever their best D is. |

Arizona and Buffalo are definitely the worse two IMO.
Buffalo probably already has a better prospect pool than Arizona as well. The Yotes are really in need of a great draft. Four picks in the first two rounds including a lottery pick in this draft should be a good start.
Hopefully Letunov ends up being worth something to you.

James Tanner: Who is Really the Worst Team in the NHL?
Surpassing the Sabres even. Nearly historically bad. - James_Tanner
"Think about how bad the Oilers, Coyotes and Sabres must be if the Leafs are ten points up on them. It's a little like thinking no world leader could possibly be as bad as George Bush Jr but then meeting Canadian PM Stephen Harper - it's mind blowing on a level you didn't even know existed. "
You'd be smarter saying Obama, since his approval ratings are lower. But hey, ya must be a democrat

Can you please explain how you have come to that conclusion, as I don't see it that way at all.
Yes the Leafs are pathetic, but how when they didn't trade their core group, a team that is a blatant tank job? Do you think the players really care about the Leafs getting a good draft pick? If the team wanted to force a tank they would have traded away some or all of the core at the deadline. They didn't. Unlike teams like Buffalo and Arizona which are deliberately trying to tank, the Leafs are just a bad team. |

Listen Harper is bad, but it's even insulting to him to be compared to George W. Bush. Nice try though |

Who is there core ? And if it's all the guys signed to 3+ years then they didn't sell their core away at the deadline becaus they couldn't. That doesn't mean they didn't try or that they won't be shipped out at the draft and in the off season. Who was going to make a deadline deal for a player signed to 7+ years at 7+ million? The leafs are tanking and will continue their tank for the next 3 plus seasons. |

James,
I like your writing, but not your taste in music or politicians. Please leave your political opinions out of your blogs. I hope you can find a way to respect the wishes of those of us who read your stuff but get irritated at your shots at those people on the other side of the political spectrum from you.
I think both Bush and Harper were/are excellent leaders, even with their flaws. You disagree, and that's fine, but try leave your feelings out of it, and we who disagree will do the same thing in the future.
Thanks for your consideration of my request. |

With Letunov, DuClair, Domi, Dvorak, Perlini, Lessio, Reider, Samuelsson, and two first rounders this year, it's a pretty bright future.
Maybe Buffalo has Sam Rienhart, who's better than anything the Coyotes have, and a few really nice D too, but I still like the Coyote overall picture. It may be a quantity over quality situation, but there are some super-high upside guys in the organization. |

The leafs traded Jokinen, Franson, Sanotrelli and Winnik all with in a month. Leafs tanking hard too. |

Can't disagree with the Leafs assessment, especially after last night. Just goes to show how good of a coach Randy Carlyle is. He got that big steaming pile of crap to at least be respectable. |

I still don't get what is pathetic about tanking. The players are still playing because they want successful careers. Sure, team management is getting rid of players in hopes of the Leafs doing poorly and getting a higher draft pick, but that is how the league works. The Leafs were doing very bad before they started dumping players.
You use the word blatant like they're trying to hide it. Shanny has been pretty public about the fact that they're getting rid of players and rebuilding through the draft. Are you upset that they didn't make it harder for you to figure out, or? |

Whats wrong with my Canadian PM? If you actually think He is a worse leader then George Bush Jr. Then you should just delete your account now that's a absurd ignorant comment. |

The worst team is measured over the course of an 82 game schedule, not in spurts of 25 to 30 games….the true dogs will stack up as they should at the end of the season. |

BTW, the tanking by the three or four lowest teams in the league is disgusting, just like the 76ers are doing in the NBA.
As a CBJ fan I hate where we are in the standings, and I hate the fact we have a high draft pick coming our way. I'd rather see the CBJ win every game the rest of the season no matter if we only finished ninth and got a middle of the first round pick.
These are professional athletes playing 82 game seasons. They are paid to win games and people pay serious $$$ to see teams win and give 100% effort, not intentionally trying to lose, or see life-long AHL players put in to supposedly get the next great player.
How fans of any team can root for their team to lose is beyond me. Especially since lots of number 1 draft picks have failed to reach their potential for all kinds of reasons.
