That sucks but they aren't going anywhere with or without him. The offense may be more of a concern than the injury depleted defense. |

Letang generated an awful lot of our offense. Virtually no other D was a factor offensively this year. |

Pens have some serious issues to address. Corsi and advanced stats don't mean shiite if you don't win. One game to decide your fate. |

Fate is already decided. Doesn't matter if we get in. No chance without Letang. |

How about the fact that three core players (Maatta, Dupuis and Letang) are out for the year and there are injuries to guys like Pouliot who could help.
Also we cannot forget that this team employs Craig Adams and Max Lapierre.
We literally have a wounded Penguin with two anchors attached to it attempting to swim. |

Fate has already been decided man. Just is it tomorrow or after 4 playoff games. This team is dead in the water and dead tired. |

Oh well..rooting for an art ross...thats it folks. See ya next year. Hopefully sans MJ RT and Ruth. Mark my words..you will hear more about trading Malkin than ever before.
I dont want to see Perron, lappy, hoff, adams, downie, and maybe even kunitz on this team any longer. We need a serious overhaul..and honestly burn it to the ground this off season. Id be happy with a transistion year next year with all the right pieces in place. Throw the bank at babcock. |

Not if you play the Habs. If you play them, you'll most likely win. |

Question from last blog:
I'll ask this again now the news of Tanger has just touched down.
All you guys saying Doans hit was ok, if that was the case & EVERY game had a hit & outcome like that would game still carry on? Every game had a player concussed, with a hit the same as Doans?
Would Bettman let it continue or would changes be made to stop the hits even though you all think it was legal? |

Do you really have any confidence in him completing a season?
EDIT: Letang has played more than 74 games once in his 8 year career and that was 2010-11. |

Why? I'm hoping he can just have a normal life at this point. Something he needs to start thinking about.
His concussion and fragility issues arent going to somehow magically heal over a few months. This will be an ongoing issue with him.
This is why some of us weren't liking the extension offered to him. Saddled with a $7+ mill cap hit each season and you cannot count on the guy at all. One hit away.
Not good.

Hockey wouldn't exist in the first place if humans were so fragile that Doan's hit resulted in a concussion every time. So in your hypothetical situation, no, Bettman wouldn't make changes, because he'd be working for the NBA. |

I'm not saying we'd beat the Habs but I think that's the team we match up against the best. But it looks like we'd get the Rags anyway.
Oh well...no Letang. No Erhoff. A gassed Martin, Cole, Scuds, Love. Wouldn't be looking good anyway.
Would be good to make it just so the organization could get at least 2 games of playoff revenue. I imagine they are pretty close to being in the red if they don't get a few playoff games. |

I dunno, just as long as they get those legal hip to hip checks out of the game. |

Good. I hope they lose money and it keeps Burkle up at night until he realizes that his FO has no system and that is why they keep failing. |

I just think overall the league has to do something about injuries. Every team at any time after mid November has like 1/3 to 1/2 of their regulars out of the lineup.
First thing I would do if made commish other than enforce the rulebook...
I'd eliminate allowing players to slide to the ice on their body or knees to block shots. It would allow more pucks through and eliminate many injuries where pucks hit guys. Win win IMO. |

Cant argue with that dude.
I am getting more and more pissed about this cap issue and the 5 D thing. IMO GMJR gots some splainin to do on that one. Major f-up IMO. Major f-up.
Here we are supposedly loaded with defensive depth. GMJR knows how fragile this team is. Yet, he spends every last dime to the cap. And now we have a gassed top 5 with decent depth players in WBS ready to play. Yet nothing we can do.
I've never seen a team have to play a guy short for multiple weeks. I think that directly factored into the Ottawa game and this game. |

My take on that was ownership mishandling the Shero/DB firings, hiring probably their 3-4 choice in HC, hiring the coach before the GM, insisting that Tocchet be part of the staff, this win-now mode that is actually slowly killing the franchise's ability to win now (ironic isn't it?) and also their long-term outlook, their refusal/inability to address this avalanche of injuries every season, f-ing up the cap to where they cant dress a full team for like 10 games, hiring 14 GMs, hiring a GM that is totally in win now mode and crippling the franchise because of it, etc.. |
