I still sit Brown and play Drouin... He adds more scoring on the 4th line...
- TBolts4

Carry over from last thread.

4th lines might see very little playing time. Brown kills penalties and could be very important playing against a team that had one of the best PP's all season.

Also bmay11 please stay in the wings thread.

This is going to be a great, entertaining series. Two teams that thrive on puck possession, great transitions and loads of skill. This is what the "New NHL" was supposed to be all about.

" Although the Lightning organization may not like it, I’m sure some fans wearing red might even sneak in and enjoy the action."

Too bad "the new NHL" is dead. League scoring is way down compared to the first season with the new rules and shootout in place.

A Red Wings fan telling a Red Wings fan to stay out of the Lightning blog thread? Okay.

Scoring down? I think this is the most goals the Tampa Bay Lightning have scored in a single season.

It's almost back at the levels it was before the original lockout and way down from the first season of the "new NHL"

Yeah but I think it has to do with all time high sv% and not with clutching and grabbing hockey. Maybe more adjustments to goalie pads or the nets are in store.

True. Eventually they'll have to make another change if they want scoring back up. The goalies will always play the safety card when it comes to equipment so I wouldn't be surprised if we eventually see bigger nets way down the line.

Parity across the board with goalie save percentages.

I do think they could call the games a tad bit tighter and get the power play opportunities back up around 3.5

I just hate that the officials are taught to manage a game according to the score and situation. Call it the same for 60 minutes, that's all I ask. Once a team is up 3-1 with 3 PP's so far and none for the losing team, the losing team has to do something blatantly obvious to get a penalty and the winning team basically has to play like a bunch of choir boys to avoid getting one.

Some of the NHL's parity is artificial. It's still a very competitive league, but the loser points and officiating keeps it closer than it should be.

It's fun to joke about but Nashville did the same type of restrictions for buying tickets and there was no story about that.

If they want to have a dumb policy, I'm going to call them on it. That's the beauty of blogging - it's okay to throw opinion stuff in there.

this is exactly why i didnt think its a big deal,

I got in an arguement with my friend over this last night, it isnt like they said "Anyone even wearing a red wing jersey cant come in" Nashville most certainly did it when they played chicago because they want to form a home ice feel, not chicago playing home games in nashville..

they only said must be a florida resident to buy tickets, which plenty of people from detroit now live down there and can easily go to the game, but it allows people who live there to attain tickets first before people who live in MI

In two sections they did. And that's why I think Tampa got the extra attention.

I am completely fine with that, though. If you want a couple of sections to be all Tampa pride, go for it. It would be ridiculous to say Wings colors weren't allowed in the stadium at all, and I think that's what people thought was happening.
