I'm fairly certain this means you'll get Taylor Hall for Loui Eriksson and Reilly Smith

Chia is going to try to pry Hamilton from Boston. He is going to throw a $6.6-7 mil contract for 7 years at him. And with the silly contracts the Bs have right now we may be trouble.

If we can't keep a potential number 1 D-man and lose him to an offer sheet to a fire dumpster like Edmonton we may as well blow it up now.

Would you rather.......if you could only keep one.

Chara or Hamilton?

Again, the $6-7 range seems pretty clear...http://bigbadblog.weei.co...-for-as-long-as-they-can/

If we're going to jump to conclusions I'd trade them both for

Keith
Petrangelo
Weber
Doughty

Again, a fantasy so is the offer sheet stuff.

Why? Seriously, what would you gain from a trade like that? In all seriousness?

Does no one see the corner we are in as a team against the cap right now and not care to question it?

A truly elite defender to build around.

Hall, Nuge and Eberle are all locked up for a long time on reasonable 6m/year contracts. There isn't any pieces that Boston would part with that would even come close to landing those guys.
Lucic is going to be a UFA next season and want a raise. The Oilers would love that kind of player but he is a 1 years rental about to pass his peak (if he hasn't already) and won't have maximum trade value until the deadline. If they try to unload that contract with only 1 year on it over the summer Boston fans will be disappointed in the return.
Yak and Leon are under club control for a LONG time so they have much more upside and value (financially).
Plus I don't think Neely and Chiarelli got along that well so their history might not increase the likelihood of a trade between the two teams.

Yes there are many numbers. Infinite in fact. I'm also not sure what you're asking....

Hamilton's a nice piece but in a hypothetical world if I could use him to gain a real top 1 or 2 defender I wouldn't think twice. That's all.

I would most definitely consider a deal centred around a core member and Hamilton. Boston most likely wouldn't. Guy will be in Norris running for years

Theoretically, the Bruins could seek compensation for Chiarelli (like a third-round pick, for example)

How could they get compensation when they fired the guy? I thought that compensation thing was only for poaching management/coaches that were actually still part of the team and under contract.

Yeah if Dougie Hamilton was in the picture then I'm sure the Oilers would listen but I don't think that's a piece Boston would part with. But Hamilton would definitely be interesting.

But Chara and his aging body and large contract , Lucic and his expiring contract and smallish forward Reily Smith aren't anything that is going to fetch you high end talent out of Edmonton.

Technically, he is still under contract. It's the reason why we would still have to pay his contract if he was to sit out.

Kinda stupid rule I agree. But, doubt the Bs would rather pay his salary and have him sit at home opposed to letting another team pay him.

You are right. We would have to sweeten the pot to entice you guys to make that deal.

Wish we made that deal last off season.
