NHL’s department of player safety..... There is no such thing anymore.
Do I think he should be suspended, no not with the way they have the rules currently. It was a questionable hit though.
But that is the joke of the NHL. Big hits happen in hockey and especially the playoffs but accountability has to be restored as plays like this one and the Karlsson one are eventually going to lead to someone on a stretcher as players take more and more without any repercussions, honestly I guess you could say the players association needs to do more to protect its members.
Going to be a good game 7 and I will be there doing this or ... I will take the first option every time. |

He should be suspended. Dangerous hit. Head shot and he jumped. - hankthetank
It didn't look like he jumped in slower frames. Often they get shot up upon clashing; seems like that may be what happened here.
The real issue is that he definitely hit the head, and the NHL looks foolish calling for no more head shots, but pick and choose whom to suspend. They need to pick a guideline and follow it no matter what. |

The Kronwall hit was borderline... but not enough to warrant anymore than a finger-wagging. Whatever, it was a hell of a hit.

His toe was still on the ice when he made the hit, he however had every intention of jumping into it which he did, you can see him spring off his foot. He would've been airborne had he not made any contact. This is a suspendable hit but the NHL doesn't have the balls to sit him down for a Game 7. |

drilled him in the head...forearm slightly away from his body but i think more to brace for impact than trying to hit him with it. not one of his cleaner hits.
dont think he gets suspended for game 7...unless his name was raffi torres. |

Credit to Kucherov for not staying down. That might have been enough to at least get a 2 minute call. He took the blow right to the face and those pads have a hard shell. I'm surprised K is not concussed.
I never liked the way Kronwall throws those hits, turning his backside towards the player. He really tried to launch himself up & into K's head & when K tried to evade, Kronwall tried to nail him with his elbow, which connected to the head.
Should be a good game 7.

His arm was AWAY from his body.
As soon as you do the chicken wing with your arm the play is suspect.
It looks like a fore-arm with maybe an elbow to the head.

Kucherov didn't stay down cause our guys don't flop all over the ice trying to get calls. No respect for Detroit anymore. Dive more than the Penguins. |

Holy f*ck how about we just eliminate hitting all together and institute the new type of hit/check called the "hug" where if you want to take someone out of the play just wrap your arms around him and give him a big ol hug. And then we can sing kumbaya while holding hands. |

Ha, love it! Had one of the Bolts put that hit on Pavel, Hank or gasp, one of the "Kids" something tells me you'd have a problem with it. |

Kronwall should be suspended. Your supposed to drive thru the player & your skates shouldn't leave the ice. Hitting up into the player is dangerous your driving the energy up it should be sideways. This isn't the 1st time we have seen Kronwall do this nor will it be the last. The suspension doesn't need to be severe, 1 game but a message needs be that these types of hits aren't acceptable. If the head was the primary target & it's hard to tell from the replays I've seen then it should be 3. |

So you don't see the difference between a clean shoulder to the chest and a flying elbow to the head? |

Would be less of an issue if the referees had done their job and assessed a penalty. |

this is a bunch of bs ....
I'm all for open ice, crushing, 'keep ye freakin head up kid' type hits BUT this is an elbow to the head without a doubt.
If Kronwall keeps his arm tucked ..... no penalty/suspension.
but he extends his arm and catches the guy with an elbow to the head
He should get 1 game minimum.
and where is the payback????? p_ussy f_ckin Hedman comes in and says 'jeez, ya shoulnd't do that to our guy - see ya in the summer' ....
if someone beats the livin tar outta Kronwall for those hits, he'd learn to keep his elbows down. |

Kronwall should be suspended 1 game
not for an elbow or for a target to the head, but he was mid air when he hit.
But he wont get anything.

You know, I have respect for you and your blogs. I really didn't expect you to be in here trolling Wings fans. If you think it was an illegal hit, fine. If you think it should warrant a suspension, fine. But get the hell out of here with that garbage.
EDIT: For the record, I have no issue with this being a suspension. He got him in the head, and I'd be mad if that happened to one of the Wings players. The onus has to be on the hitting player to avoid the head. |
