Rex Ryan a premiere coach? Ya he's not even at .500 with his winning percentage in his career. No way is he a premiere coach in the NFL.

As always a great read. But I am not sure Babcock is the right coach. He inherited a good team in Detroit. The question I have is who would he like as his assistances will be?

He was the biggest named coach on the market in the NFL. There was a reason every team wanted an interview with him. Had the Jets management not screwed him by building a crappy roster he wouldn't be in Buffalo.

not sure there is a "right coach"...he's the best one available and has a pretty good track record...they could go with a "bridge coach" for developmental purposes, but why waste time, imo

Have you ever come into a thread and not said anything negative. It is Mother's Day. Did she not teach you that if you have nothing nice to say then say nothing.

Just more interested in what other control he wants from a team. But your right we don't need a bridge coach. Would love McClellan if Babcock goes elsewhere.

might have been a little strong, but they never really built a powerhouse in ny with him there and he still managed to make it to two consecutive afc championship games...without cheating

have no idea who would be next in line...am of the opinion that should babcock go somewhere else, luke Richardson will be in line...and we know that "control" will not be an issue

I don't mind the coach having say in who he wants on his team as long as him and the GM are on the same page, but I'm not sure I want our coach delving into much more. I want our coach coaching and focused on that.

I just don't want him thinking he can be team president and coach or something dumb like that.

Then you better give him pieces to work with that have NHL talent, not players in the minors that are 3 years away. Your not going to sell Babcock into coming here by telling him the so called " star players " we have in the minors are 3 years away.

good point, but that's what the other teams are selling right now, save for san jose...but they may be in the process of a retool or even rebuild

I have no problem with that, get players in now, I am all for it. I just don't think having more than one general in the house will turn out very well.

Sharks and Oilers have better pieces then the Sabres do, Leafs are a wreck. Don't know if we have enough to get Babcock to come here, money may not do it.

I don't think Babcock wants to be GM but I did hear he would like some say so outside of his head coaching role, something Murray would in no way shape or form give to Nolan.

A few of the pieces are on the decline, if he was interested in that he's better off staying in Detroit.

point taken yet oilers may have better pieces up front, but their d isn't all that good...plus, murray just traded for kane who hasn't even hit the ice yet...

one thing that all these prospects will do for the organization is give them quality depth, something that the oilers don't have

People keep saying that about Marleau and he puts up numbers every year, Doug Wilson is the problem not the players or McLellan.

Babcock appears to be a smart man, not sure Nolan is on the same level as him. Lots of teams seem to be going to the GM by committee these days by bringing in multiple hockey minds to try and build a team. Maybe it can work in Buffalo, I have my doubts but that seems to be the way the league is going these days.
