Depends on what Babcock is looking for in terms of the current roster. If he doesn't mind the fact that he might be coaching a team 2-3 years out of being a playoff contender, why wouldn't he want Buffalo, lots to be excited about.
But if he wants to be the final piece of a puzzle to push a team over the edge, cant see him looking at Buff as a major draw (still think you guys are a few big pieces away from rounding it all together) |

those types of teams, mainly st. Louis now that Pittsburgh is out of the running, still have a head coach |

If we're talking ego, then the pitch plays like this:
Last two years we were the worst team in hockey. In the process, however, we have assembled the makings of an excellent hockey team that will need the proper hand to guide them to dominance. Mike, you could be that guy. This year will likely show some improvement but still more lottery than Stanley Cup - however one sure-fire way to get your name on the list for the Jack Adams is to go from the basement to the playoffs, and we legitimately think you can get us there in 2 years.
Done properly, and you're the guy to do it, we could be looking at a dynasty in the making.
Or something like that. |

Sharks, Probably the Blues or Wild after another failing playoffs, Flyers, are all going to take that run at him as the we have the roster and top end talent, just need the coach to put it all together.
Sabres, Oilers, Leafs, etc will be all pitching the fresh rebuild young cores. Its going to be interesting to see which team out of those 2 categories he goes for. |

yeo probably isn't going anywhere this season, in fact the I've never heard the wild mentioned in all of this...
and agreed, the fly-boys with the likes of Giroux and voarcek are probably front-runners in the immediate talent department...
he won't find the perfect spot for him and his wife, so who can come closest is fodder for speculation and...

Goalie situation is still an unknown. Doesn't seem like any major studs in the pipeline; so will have to be creative trading or landing a big ufa tender. I think that's the only thing slowing things down for them |

You don't need a stud goaltender. Just an average one will suffice. Just ask Corey Crawford. |

Thanks Mike. Could you give an update on Kane? It will be interesting to see how he adjusts to his new team.
I have to question the work ethic of Zaitsev. If he comes right out, and says that he only wants this, that, and the other...... Will he be the next Semin? Only time will tell. I wouldn't want to take a chance on this guy with a long term contract, and I would have a back up plan just in case he gets a little flaky on me. |

2-3 years is probably hopeful. It's one thing to get there but to be an actual contender will take some time and craftiness on TM's part. |

Jeremy White says they will contend for playoff spot next year. Although he knows as much about hockey as my 102 year old grandmother. |
