Can only agree.
Almost get tears in my eyes watching Roy and his colleagues make actual saves on old clips. They had to as they covered a third of the net.
Nowadays I get tears in my eyes when the tv-people talk about amazing saves from this and that goalie.....what saves? When they place themselves in the in the right position there is no net left to hit, goaltending today is more about putting an inpenetrable wall in the right location than making saves.
But maybe I am wrong...I have been wrong one time before... |

Nice analysis, thank you.
For a future blog, can you opine about changes to the NHL rules that you'd like to see?
A couple thought starters:
Remove the goalie 'no play' zone
Increase the height of the end and side glass to keep more pucks in play
Player in offensive zone gets 'last stick' on face offs instead of the home team |

Another one in my opinion, do away with the delay of game call for shooting the puck over the glass, just make it like an icing with no line change for the d-zone team instead. |

yup, this is the most disproportionate offense-to-penalty thing in the game. |

Good read, I agree that the goalie equipment is way too large. Eventhe blocker and glove are bigger than my car...
Hmmmm, can we thank Garth Snow for starting this trend? |
