My Guy! Long time no talk Aaron! I have MANY questions about your Avs squad this offseason. Thought they sharted their chones last summer with UFA signings and lack of action to remedy roster. You thinking big summer for your team?

Dean, is there a way to tone down the language during your shows? I enjoy listening to them at work, but when the f bomb is being dropped with frequency I have to turn it off... Would be appreciated, by others than just me too Im sure... Thanks if its possible!

I usually do my very best to keep my language within the lines. I certainly did not this week which in hindsight is something to work on. I will make mention of it to the rest of the crew.

They might sign one guy. The focus will probably be on extending guys in the last year of their deals. Johnson Mackinnon O'Reilly and barrie are more important than anyone they could sign this year

Elliotte Friedman's 30 Thoughts

29. Marc Bergevin may need to make a “money-out” trade to lessen the impact on the cap after the Petry signing. This is in my own head, but I look at Minnesota and Montreal and wonder if, in any way, there’s a Mikko Koivu deal to be made. He’s the kind of player the Canadiens could use at centre.

I wish Elliotte would have expanded on this thought on how the money goes out if Montreal would try to swing a deal for Koivu. I wonder if he is thinking something along the lines of Eller and Emelin for Koivu. It would be about a $900K cap savings over the three years (each player has three years left on their contracts). Maybe throwing in Prust too? It would seem they would have to give up two or three players for one to get the cap savings. But then they have holes to fill that basically takes that savings up. Not sure there's a reasonable deal here for both teams.

My Habs guys want nothing to do with Koivu and believe he would never waive his NMC to go there because of his brother's legacy in Montreal. The other deafening point to this beautiful music to my ears proposal of getting out from under Koivu's contract with a mega deal is that Montreal would need to match dollars and doesn't have a center with skill/size combo to return in the deal. so there is no deal to be had IMO
