I'm hoping Reinhart can take a step forward in his development but I was kind of hoping the Oilers were going to add someone a little more experienced. If they can sign someone in free agency then it'll look pretty good.

I don't think they're done by a long shot. Chiarelli knows that Draisaitl, Nurse, McDavid and Reinhart all on ECLs gives team a huge edge in the salary cap. + a cheap Yakupov and a few other.

They have a three year window where they'll be able to stack their team like Chicago did with all those cheap pre-lockout deals.

Im not saying 3 years is their only window, but it is a window in which they can absolutely stack their team> I think you'll see them add a bunch of vets over the next several months and there's no reason they can't win a couple Playoff rounds next season.

Defense is overrated. Honestly, move the puck and you're playing good D. Lots of guys who "don't know how to play defense" do more to suppress shots than traditional defensive defenseman.

Both teams will be great to watch. With so many bad teams on the rise, it's going to be interesting to see who falls. I can't see Vancouver, Calgary or SJ being Playoff teams at this point.........not that I see AZ making it, but Edmonton will for sure. LA will be back.
