Buffalo was offer sheeting Boston and Chicago? Interesting, albeeit just a guess and 90% false. And gmtm will not be offer sheeting stl either as he avoids Russians. In case you didn't notice, he never drafts them and traded away his two. |

Columbus is the second Buffalo Eastern Conference rival to traded away a franchise player restricted free agent in the past three days - garth
Hold on Skippy!! Isn't Saad the franchise player RFA? And wasn't he dealt FROM Chicago? And isn't Chicago in the Western Conference?
Brilliant Garth, just brilliant!! |

The more I study it the more I think Beauchemin my be the best fit/target for the sabres. He'll be cheaper and comparable (maybe better slightly) than Martin and odulya plus just can't see Sekera wanting to come back to Buffalo.

OK Garth, let's assume your myopic Sabres-centric theory is correct and these RFAs were dealt due to the intimidation of Tim Murray's impending offers. How has that helped Buffalo in any way? If anything the Blue Jackets and Flames should be sending him a fruit basket right about now. Maybe GMTM should play his cards a little closer to his chest? (apologies for having the gall to question the great and powerful...) |

Why do people keep saying this? If the money is right he will go anywhere. The coaches/GM from his time here are all gone, so I'm sure that has nothing to do with his decision. |

The sabres have some options to consider over the next few days....they can really improve this team by making a few more bold moves and tmgm is the guy to get it done:
Trades:
Option1
St Louis has not done anything and they need to make some changes;
Weber, McCabe and Cantenacci for Bouwmeister and a pick or
Weber, Mcginn and Cantenacci for Oshie
or Weber, McCabe, McGinn and Foligno or Larson for Oshie and Bouwmeister
Option 2
Weber, McGinn and 2nd pick for Marleau and 3rd pick
Option 3
weber and Legwand for Schenn and lecavalier plus Philly holds half of Vinny's salary; Vnny would get 4th line minutes and PP time and an occasional step set of shifts when one of the top six guys goes down.
Free Agent signings if no trades can occur
#1: Shawn Matthias...this is a good big center that plays well at equal strength and kills penalties.....he would be excellent on the 3rd line at center with Foligno and Girgenson...big strong scrappy line that would go through the wall for you;
#2: Beachemin ....this is a good stay at home defenseman that gives you hopefully 3 years of service...wont come cheap, but will be a good 5th defenseman by year 3 and will not hurt you....like Jim Patrick years ago;
#3:Bartkowski over Irwin.....just look at the profiles on line.....one reminds of Phil Kessel and the other reminds me of Toews or Gilmour....sometimes you don't need to be tough...just look the part......This would be a very nice 7th defenseman
#4: If McCormick is done, bring in Winnick to play with McGinn and gionta on the 4th line.
#5: Chris Stewart....Murray likes him because he traded for him....and him playing the right side with O'reilly and Kane could be inclredible......
#6: sign another goalie....in order of preference: Neuwirth, Lindmark, Enroth, but no more than 3 years and $8 million for any of them.
What these moves do is making the sabres bigger stronger and tougher than they would have ever been......Imagine the lines:
kane, Oreilly stewart/Oshie
moulson Eichel Ennis
Foligno Matthias Girgensons
Mcginn Winnick/legwand Gionta
Larson and Deslauriers are the spares...ith Reinhart in the minors to start
Beachemin/Bouwmeister Risto
jorges Pysyk
Begosian Brtkowski
Ruhwhedl is the spare or sign Irwin and make him your spare |

I'd actually be open to moving Reinhart or Girgensons. IF it brought back a young (24 or younger) left handed future or current top pairing defenseman. The way I look at it, Eichel, oreilly, Kane, Ennis, moulson aren't going anywhere. I love 28 and 23 but there's only one top pairing guy on this team (55) and there's no prospects coming to take that spot. Am I crazy to be open to trading 28 or 23? Would have to be a star or star in the making. |

Good thought process but who in the world would want Weber (I don't) and the sabres #1 UFA priority isn't Mathias - the last thing we need is another center - we have around 6 already
