Odd that no one has responded in ten hours..
This blog (and maybe due to Sweeney's statements) seem contradictory. We aren't done signing, but we could roll with what we have. Doesn't that kind of go without saying?
I feel as though the status quo is not strong enough, and these young guys are not going to turn any heads this year. But, if we don't, then they don't have the chance to prove themselves until the next year. If we had to slot someone in for the 3rd pairing, then fine, but McQuaid and Krug are kind of a lock for that. Don't really want either of them logging top 4 minutes. And no rookie is really talented enough to slide in next to Chara or Seidenberg for 20-25 minutes a game.
However, as I've mentioned before, it may be that just like the top 9 forwards will sort of be like three Second lines, perhaps the pairings should be pretty much equals. No one logging 25 minutes a game. Making it easier on the vets and not relying on them too heavily?
Chara Trotman/C.Miller/Morrow?
Seidenberg Miller
Mcquaid Krug
Miller and Mcquaid just seem redundant on this roster.. |

What wouldn't be disastrous?
As Ty has pointed out several times, Chara and Seidenberg aren't the liabilities everyone keeps saying. They may no longer be 2 of the best shutdown D in the league, but they are both responsible.
Name your pairings sir. |

Nothing really new to say about the team. Especially the D.
We don't have anyone coming up through the AHL that's sexy or new (closest guy is Koko), no one from the draft is going to make the team, the moves up front are mostly lateral (nothing drastically improved if at all and we still didn't replace Iggy, which was all the talk last preseason), and going into last season we had questions about how the back-end would work without Johnny.......just add one more question to that heap with needing to replace our best or second best D-man.
All we can do now is wait.
Seems everyone has chosen a side. |

Well, the Bruins look pretty different...
Hard to picture them without Lucic to be honest. - Tangled
Will definitely be a lot of new names and faces during camp. Which i personally don't mind. There are a few faces i'd love to see leave and one i wish hadn't left, but it'll be interesting if anything. |

I've heard some speculation of the bruins looking for some trade partners to move some dmen. I could see Kevin Miller and Seidenberg being expenidable here. clearly Mcquaid(who should have walked as a UFA) isn't going to be traded. whether they bring in another remains to be seen, but they should probably target franson or to a lesser extent zidlicky to get someone who can move the puck and create some offense. chara/seids/mcquaid all do the shut down thing. the only real offense is Krug. I can see C. Miller playing another year in AHL to get used to tge Bruins systems then jumping up to the big club next year. they need to bring in someone who can be the anchor back there as Chara is sliding and will need to pass the defensive torch to someone.
Chara- morrow/trotman
Seidenberg-krug
irwin- mqcuaid
extra K miller
if they move a piece and sign someone it could look like this
chara- trotman/morrow
Irwin- franson/zidlicky
Krug-mcquaid

I'd like them to give Krug a chance to crack the top 4.
The opportunity is there next year. Let's see what he's got. He wants it, and he's a gamer.
If they keep on giving him 3rd pairing and PP duties, and he produces like he has since coming into the league, next year he will command a raise and the Bruins will be in a bind. Should we pay him like a top 4? Risky, because we don't know if the can handle such a responsibility. But on the other hand, can we get rid of what he is bringing as an offensive force (he's 7th among dmen for goals scored over the last 2 years)?
Why not get a clearer idea of what he can bring.
Anyway, the Bs are not contenders next year; better see what we got with some of the prospects. |

Yeah, he's worse than everyone has speculated. Most people say he's not that bad, and he'll return to form. I don't know what Chara they're watching, but the Chara I watched last year barely belongs in the NHL, let alone on a top pairing. |

Shut your blasphemy ass mouth! He is the spawn of Hercules! Demigods don't die or age like mortal men. They don't give a sh**! They do what they want. Ugh.......how do you not know these things?
------------
Realistically, I think this is the year we see a crazy change from start to finish.
He is going to come out like a maniac, one of the best D-men in the NHL at the all star break.
THEN, around the 3/4 mark he is going to have a dramatic drop in this play. (Injury or otherwise.)
If Sweeney was a true genius he would try to trade him to a contender around the break when everyone with space will want him, especially the "over performing" teams. But, we all know that will not happen. |
