Good article, like always Carol.

It's nice to know that the rivalry that we forged with the Blackhawks is not forgotten.

Good also to see NHL Russians give the Canadians some respect.

With the Sedin twins both being top 30 point getters last year, do you think that there is one more all star year left in them?

With the Pat Kane situation heating up do you think that the NHL will make any sort of decision prior to it making its way into the courts?

Carol - Not to be too picky, but the Kraft Hockeyville game will not be in North Saanich. Rather the game will be played in the Q Arena (formerly known as Bear Mountain Arena) in Colwood.

Dog days are here for sure. We are talking politics and stock markets .

I hope Burrows bites someone at the PNE so we have hockey news again

I very much dislike Burrows, like you dislike the Sedins, as a hockey player. Probably a good guy though?

I don't have a huge dislike for them I just wish they were not together . Then I would probably like them a lot more.

I think Henrik is a good player and centre. I would look at Daniel the same as I look at Vrbata if he was not a twin.

I just think it is too much goes through them.

regarding the Russian's snub of the Canadian anthem... there's really only one appropriate response for the Canadians to use...

1) wear the Team Canada 72 jerseys for the entirety of their games during that tourney
2) wear those jerseys without the permission of the International Ice Hockey Federation
3) wear patches thanking Bobby Clarke for the slash of Kharlamov
4) wear patches celebrating the date of each Olympic thrashing of the the Russian team in the past two Olympics
5) no one says a word about it publicly - you just do it.

Or you just do it unexpectedly for the game against the Russians.

the former Bear Mountain Arena is right behind the Juan de Fuca rec center, which is technically Colwood.

At least we have something to talk about

Does Langford technically exist anymore? I live in the Saanich area and actually have no idea...

you should get out more!!! Langford is booming right now. They've built a nice little downtown area on Goldstream Ave.

There's talk of merging all the municipalities but technically north and west of Victoria it's still Vic West, Esquimalt, View Royal, Colwood, Langford and Metchosin.

Would love to see amalgamation for all municipalities....except Metchosin, let it stay rural...not a fan of Mr. Youngs vision of small postage stamp size lots.

I certainly have not been a fan of Burrows' antics in the past but I will say that over the past few years it hasn't been as bad. Plus when he is on his game with his rat status he is very effective.

Ya I like Metchosin just the way it is. We'd like to find a place out there if we could and build our dream acreage. But for now I'll stick it out in View Royal, our taxes are really low compared to other muni's and we've got 1/3 of an acre old lot. I don't know how people can live in those tiny little lots with the next house six feet away???

I like an aggressive game from him or anyone else, but the hair pulling, biting and general side show turned me against him long ago.
