Past two seasons they rolled with 8 defensemen and the past two seasons they missed the playoffs. Coincidence?!?!? I think not. |

Kase is the exact type of home run pick we all want. Swing for the fences in those later rounds. Thanks for the update Bill!
As for Streit, I humbly disagree. I think if the trade market is good you trade him, now or at the TDL. If you can get a first for him or a good LW prospect then you pull the trigger. He could just as easily disagrees and be worth pennies and we all know he will not be at the top of his game when this team is ready to contend again. If the price is right I think you have to sell high on him. I can't imagine his value increasing past this TDL.
On a different topic (Jeff Skinner): I don't know how you could think about trading for this guy. He is one hit away from being a serious cap casualty if not already after his season last year. Here is an article from 2014 on wanting to trade him: http://www.canescountry.c...ome-to-trade-jeff-skinner
Enough to scare me away for sure. The only way you pull a deal is if AMAC and VL are involved and I don't know why that would happen. It's a bad place to be for CAR me thinks. |

I don't think teams are looking to give up firsts for vets in preseason. With the exception of Chicago and 3-4 other teams, no team can say for sure that they won't be a lottery team (Boston last year, Pittsburgh barely last year, LA, etc.) so I think you'd be selling a more potent player like Streit low at this time. Until opening night, all teams are in both first and last place (except for Arizona, they're only in last place, not first) so I don't think anyone's looking to move a first or a premier LW player/prospect.
Later, when teams are gearing up for a playoff run is when you'd get a better return (see; NYR for Yandle). If they were to move a player, I think more of a 4/5/6 guy a la Gudas, Schenn, Schultz would be moved for a more manageable return (B prospect and a 2nd/3rd). |

Right now would be the wrong time to trade Streit. If you can get a first round pick for him now, you can do the same at the deadline, or in the following off season. There is a season to play, where the Flyers can fight for a playoff spot. I wouldn't trade Schenn now either. I send Manning down, and go with 7, and see how it plays out. |

that's not true at all. I don't look to move him yet unless a cant pass up offer.
I also keep schenn for now. who knows how gudas is going to respond after a serious knee injury. |

Sure, my post was starting now until the TDL of this year so I'm not disagreeing. You set a price and if it is met, at any point from today until then or beyond, you trade the player. I don't care about trying to squeak into the POs this year. I'm sorry, I just don't. The ultimate prize is potentially 3-4 years away, eyes on the prize. I get that Streit is a good leader and that has a lot of value with young prospects coming up. However, his worth in a trade (if at the price I imagined in my previous post) would outweigh that cost imho. The fact is he is not untouchable. Acting like he is, doesn't make sense to me. |

You might not care, but I'm willing to bet that Giroux, Voracek, Simmonds, and the rest of the players care, as does Hextall, about getting into the playoffs. Stating that they should wait to make that kind of deal, is not calling Streit untouchable.

RE: trading any veteran dmen
I'd be open to trading any of the veteran dmen, provided the deal is a good one. We can quibble over whether they will make the playoffs in 15-16, but I don't think anyone, including management, can make any kind of case that this team is a legit cup contender or even a dark horse contender. With that in mind, you need to be open to moving any veteran player.
Again, I'm not advocating moving a dman just to move a dman (unless someone is willing to take AMac and his entire remaining contract), but it doesn't hurt to listen and if the deal is a good one, you make the move.

That may be true during the season but most likely not the case in the offseason where there's more options available. |

It may be true... it may not.
If a team offered a first this week and we say no... then Streit goes out and breaks his foot, struggles all season... do you think we still get a 1st?
OR
Streit goes out and puts up 70 points... we could get moar thun a foist. |

Barring some ridiculously stupid trade, I don't think that anyone aside from Giroux and Voracek is untouchable. Yeah, if someone makes you an offer that is too good to pass up that helps you more in the future than hurts you in the past, then do it. I'm just stating that I don't think that's going to happen w.r.t. Streit any time soon. |

Watching the Flyers D decisions and development the next couple seasons should be a fun and interesting thing.
18% body fat? For a hopeful professional athlete who isn't bowling or on the front line in the NFL? That's pretty bad. |

All possibilities, and I certainly don't know that for a fact. It's just my opinion that the Flyers should wait to move Streit.

For the record, I hate the "what if" injury scenario,
If a team offers a 5th for Giroux and we say no, then he goes out and gets hit by a bus and ended up wheelchair bound...do you think we can still get a 5th?
No GM should make a deal based on possible injuries when a player on his roster has been relatively healthy the last few seasons. |
