Carol Schram: Vancouver Canucks: No Good News From NHL 16 Simulation If EA Sports has it right, the Vancouver Canucks will have to settle for a sixth-place finish in the Pacific Division in 2015-16.

100 Points to me is a reach when you consider all the new faces on the team this year. These players will take time to get used to each other. That said low/mid 80's sounds reasonable.

Wait until the season starts and you can do a proper simulation from line updates. No lineups are final until that point, i was staring blank faced when Gadzik is centering the second line for the Oilers. Of course they'd finish last if that was the case. Haha

Anything can happen but I did have a laugh after reading the article in which the author wrote "The results actually weren’t too far-fetched".

I do think the poll question should be reworded to say will instead of can.

Do you agree with Jim Benning that the Vancouver Canucks will be a 100-point team in 2015-16 ?

Any team can be a 100-point team and so I answered yes, will they a 100-point team?, I think I would vote no.

Anyways, thanks for the article Carol, I enjoyed your piece at CA the other day.

Calgary doesn't see anything close to 108 points... and I suspect you guys will not be that low. I'm interested to see how the rules changes in particular OT will move the standings...

I've said it before. Canucks will be in the top three in the div once again and will win one round and lose. They will get to 100pts...

we should trade Vey for Garrison...

Flames and Canucks will be battling for mid 90's in pts.

Looks as though 98 pts will be the magic # to get in?

I think they hit 90+ but 100 is a reach, and because EA Sports is horribly bad at ratings in their NHL series at release I don't believe their simulations at all. Their playoff ones where they adjust the rosters to reflect who's playing and how they've played all season do tend to be more realistic. I say the Canucks end up with 95 points and just miss the 2nd wildcard.

98 (should) be the magic number... I think anywhere from 90-98 for a points total for both teams. Anything below is a massive season stinker and above is just way too optimistic considering the West.

I think it will actually be lower this year considering that I don't see Edm getting 60 points again this season and I doubt Arizona will be in the 50's. Without the tanking teams the playoff cut off should be lower in that case. Remember the year before when the bottom teams were more competitive, the cut off was at 91 points.

Subban just donated $10 million to children's Hospital in Montreal over 7 years.....

That is incredible and very impressive. Hopefully it help convince other superstars to give generously.

I see Arizona with less this year... lol...
Maybe but every team improved (for the most part).

Regardless, we are days away from all of us being bored out of our trees and our respective bloggers scrambling for ideas on what to write about. Now we can talk actual poop about each others teams...

They tanked so hard last year and got burnt, with that experience and the new format I doubt they go that route again. I still see them bottom 2 in the west but they added a bunch of Tippet style players ( Gordon, Richardson, Downie, Vitalie, Grossman, *Michalek*) who will make that team a lot harder to play against once again.

I'll be changing it anyway if the Seahawks start the year 0-4 or 0-5...

If McCann or Cassels or someone else, maybe Gaunce, looks better than Vey as a fourth line center option do you think Benning would be willing to cut bait with him?

He's proven to NOT be adverse to change if he thinks whats there isn't working.

not a chance McCann makes it this year. Kid still needs to put on a lot of weight and get a lot stronger.

Cassels looks like a player, but he's not a huge upgrade on Vey at this point.... plus time in the AHL getting PP and PK time would do him some good.
