Great article, Paul.
As a very young Leaf fan during the mid 80's to 90's, there were few players who scared me whenever their teams came to Toronto... but Todd Ewen was definitely one of them.
As a pre-teen I found it impossible that someone like Todd could be an author of children's books, but thanks to the confirmation of Joe Bowen during some probable mid-week Leaf game, I believed it. Even at that age, I found him complex, contradictory, and very exciting to watch.
Not enough of those character players in the NHL left, sadly.
RIP Mr. Ewen.
