Let's just end this Gonchar experiment too. Sooner the better. I hate to see him embarrassing himself, but that's what he's doing. |

I have to agree here, Perron should go. He was a no show in playoffs last year and could fetch a good future return. Dustin B would be nice, but don't see it happening with cap issues and his salary demands. |

For those of you who were bashing Scuderi the other day as being washed up and exalting Letang's defensive skills, let me point out that Letang played last night and Scuderi didn't. Great defense isn't just clearing the puck. It's first stopping the other team from scoring, then getting possession, then clearing it. Teams overloaded with "puck moving" defensemen and lacking the traditional "stay-at-home" guys, are going to be too often moving it by picking it out of their own net. |

I'm pretty sure Big Buff will get more than just Perron. I'm sure other teams will offer up more as well.

How did Perron play yesterday? Couldn't watch the game.
I would love Sprong on the roster. Kid sure can play, steal of a pick.
Our D isn't ideal right now but I think it's too early to judge. Pre-season sucks, I want to watch our D against nhl competition for some games before I have an opinion.
I would roll with
Maatta - Letang
Cole - Clendening
Pouliott - Lovejoy
and see how they do.
And yes, please. I love Gonchar but that's not going to work out... |

We should have dealt Scuderi and ANA 2nd for cap relief for Franson. Although with Scuderi's comments last week, I do believe he would have been a little female dog with his partial NTC. |

He's untradeable. I really believe that. That limited NTC is a b!tch. Should have bought him out however. Dead money sucks. But I'm starting to believe having Scuds is worse than the dead money problem. |

Finally some trade hypotheticals
I listed some targets the other day...
Ryan Ellis, Jared Spurgeon, Carl Gunnarrson
Big Buff meets our needs better than all of these players and is probably worth Perron + a small something. (though Jets fans seem to think hes worth a 1st, young roster player, top prospect). I'm a bigger fan of Perron that most but I would do...especially as it might help get Scuds or Gonch off the roster.
Random thought...what if we went crazy and traded Hornqvist for Shattenkirk. I'll hang up and listen. |

One of Pittsburgh biggest knocks since they last won a Cup was a lack of forward depth. They finally have that now so I wouldn't trade some of it away before even playing a game.
I can see it as a deadline deal maybe but Winnipeg won't trade Buff away now and Pittsburgh shouldn't do anything yet either. They might not have a Cup winning D right now but it's good enough to at least get in the playoffs. |

Now I'm a little confused.
Ryan are you now saying grit & character is good if you can play? Or don't we want all the poop cheap shots taken out of the game? Buff is 1 of the biggest arse holes in the league in regards to throwing his considerable weight around. I don't mind players getting in there & throwing them down but trying to decapitate players (even if they do play for the Rags), is not my cup of tea thanks. The way he threw Dowine into the boards after a goal, not ok avec moi! I was of the belief that you were not a supporter of this type of player?
Isn't Sprong a RW? So we let go of a player that is a top 6 LW & put up an 18 year old onto his off wing as a possible replacement? |

I see your point on one hand, it's less expensive to make a move now that's clear, but it's a looooong season and I think the young kids might be able to learn as they go. It's still POSSIBLE to make a move later but you may not have to at all. |

If the penguins traded every player who was a no show in the playoffs they wouldnt have a team. Also Perron is a UFA after this season so his trade value is small IMO. |

I dunno... I watched a half roster beat a pretty much full Tampa roster two nights ago and then a half roster outplayed but lost last night. I want to see what a full roster looks like before worrying about trading anyone. |

The way I see it Perron has very little trade value unless you're trading for conditional picks or a rental guy. No team would give up a good d-man for a forward who is set to become a UFA. I'd personally rather trade Kunitz even though I believe the trade value on him is even less. |

Yes you & Bradlee are right in your thinking in my opinion. We all know that the young D are going to experience a 'little turbulence', so as I've said before let's strap ourselves in & hold the (frank) on because it's going to be a ride!
Love saying (frank) here because it doesn't come out as (frank) - so even though I'm saying (frank), we don't see that I'm saying (frank) but we all know I'm saying (frank).
Don't see what the panic is, these guys need time to build that intangible thing called confidence. Once Dumo knew last playoffs he wasn't going anywhere he played ok. Let's give them time to find themselves & support them, & if they (frank) up trade their useless arses! |

For me its important that GMJR does not overreact and makes a solid hockey trade... ... Bottomline is the Pens have depth upfront... Moving Kunitz or Perron makes sense... It also frees up a space for Sprong to get minutes in the top 9 minutes for 9 games... (possibly more)
Perron, Scuds (50 percent retained) and a late pick for Buff would be great... but its a Pipe dream... I don't see the Jets making that deal and I don't see Scuds waving his no trade to go there...

Yeah I do kinda believe that as well. If we dealt him to Toronto in the Kessel deal it would have probably cost us Pouliot instead of Harrington. That's of course if Scuds would have said yes in the first place. UGH. Can't we just trade him to Boston and be done with him? I mean, it is an East coast team..
