Adam Proteau: Wrestling with NHL teams: Proteau's Pre-Season Picks, Pt. 1
In Pt. 1 of his pre-season picks, columnist Adam Proteau uses pro wrestling's pecking order to separate the NHL's teams into three distinct groups: Lower Card teams, Mid Card teams, and Main Eventers. Which slot does your team fall into? - Adam Proteau

Montreal are main eventer I don't think so They have Carey Price and a bunch of jabronies Cannot score and that will catch up to them One injury to Price and you can put a fork in them

Montreal has done way better than your team and many others, two years in a row in the playoffs. They are right there for sure. |

Aside from tb, detroit and maybe the Rangers, pretty much every team in east would be done from a major injury to their starting goalie.
East is heavily reliant on good goaltending. |

Montreal has a good goalie. period.
on a side note, I agree with most of these rankings, but I think Washington isnt a main eventer. I think a lot of people overrate them heading into the season. |

Last season, the Penguins scored the same number of goals as the Habs.
I'll give you a chance to rethink your position and find another angle to attack Montreal's offence. |

And a norris winning defenceman.
And an elite goal scoring winger.
And are one of the younger teams in the league.
And have a top 6 finishing selke finalist.
But yah...just a good goalie |

This is picks for how these teams will do this year, not how they finished last year or the year before. With all things even going into this year including health and additions, the only team that I would have in front of the Pens is the Lightening.
You are remembering a stretch which lasted most of the season where the penguins were missing a lot of their top players. Injuries are part of the game, but if you look at the Pens for the first month or 2 when they were healthy, they were destroying their competition.
They are healthy going into this year and have a deeper roster (Yes, even with the subtractions on defense). If we compare apples to apples, going into this season the penguins are #1 or #2. NOW, lets see if they can stay healthy for longer than a month....... either way, we can all share real banter soon enough when the season starts. Until then, none of us really have a clue whats gonna happen |
