Dougie Hamilton out of town, and Zdeno Chara and Dennis Seidenberg on the shelf
You seriously can't replace these players Irwin, Trotman, & Morrow.
This is way more drastic than replacing Lucic, & Reilly Smith, with Beleskey, & Hayes. |

Glad i was only able to watch the first period, which in all honestly didn't look too bad. |

Honestly, they had some bad turnovers but they controlled most of the play. Jets capitalized on there chances. We did not.
I was there though, not sure how they looked on TV. |

How bout the bad Irwin pinch that led directly to another goal? Why was Colin Miller a healthy scratch last night? Irwin wanted more playing time in SJ, no wonder he didn't get any.
Don't want to overreact but this team could be 0-3 come Monday evening with 2 more tough home games coming up. I'm worried if this team spirals downward early it'll be tough for them to come back. I think Julien is definitely on the hot seat, whether he deserves to be is a different story. Think this team needs someone who is willing to commit to the younger players and let them play through the growing pains. |

Was surprised C Miller didn't get the nod over Trotman or Irwin, though i suppose both the afformentioned guys have SOME nhl experience.
Saturday vs. Montreal should be pretty scary. |

I think we have to realize also that, while I don't think the B's necessarily should have won, the score wasn't totally indicative of the game. Thorburn didn't really capitalize, Krejci poked it in. Then a random pass hit a skate in front and went in. Then the full ice, no look, off the glass backhand empty netter that was just silly. B's were outplayed the last 40 but I don't think they were blown out and I think swaping Chara in for Irwin will make a HUGE difference for us defensively. |

they looked (frank)ing awful. some bad turnovers? yeah, and they all led to goals. they certainly did not control most of the play. |

All I read about Irwin all summer by Sharks writers, bloggers and fans is how much of a cluster(frank) turnover machine he is.
If last night is any indication, they are correct. |

Have to give C Miller a shot over Irwn. Can't be any worse and likely a lot better upside. |

They controlled the entire 1st and parts of the 3rd. Idk what happened during the 2nd, that was painful to watch. The forwards were good, Irwin was not. Swap Irwin for Chara and that's a much closer game |

Even Charlie Jacobs singled out Miller pre game talking about how he was excited about seeing him play that night. Whoops. |

Brutal. but lets not, not you, create this narrative that other defenseman were solid and all we needed was Chara. |

Irwin is definitely the scapegoat here, but the whole defensive corps is to blame. |

Gloom and doom already. It was not as bad as you are making it out to be. Much closer game than 6-2.
It is the first game of the season.. |

It was only one game but I didn't see a top pairing guy and only one top four on the entire unit last night.
Trotman
Irwin
Morrow
All had rough games. Krug was average but this midget can't be expected to be a #1 defensmen lol.
McQuaid and Miller are nothing more than solid bottom pairing guys if their body parts aren't falling off them every other week.
It's a major point of weakness and teams will continue to attack and forechecking hard knowing they can generate turnovers. I don't care who the goalie is, that isn't an NHL defence, not by a long shot. |
