The video is definitely worth the watch. Great stuff. Notice how without modern day equipment, no D are posting-up in front of the net, clearing guys out, amongst other things....slower pace of play etc. One guy had a helmet on.

To me, this season is like 45 years ago....I actually missed the 1st season but became a fan in their second and the ripe age of 12. (Yes, old timer here!)

This season is so exciting to me, it is the rebirth of the Sabres...expecting some ups and some downs ... But lots of good times as we watch the team gel, and the youngins develop.

It brought back some memories for me. I went to the first game in the Aud against Montreal with my dad. What I remember was this upstart bunch of old vets (Crozier, Duff, Goyette) and Gil Perreault playing the mighty Canadiens. It was an historic night and the games back then were exciting, much better than today. Perreault with his end to end rushes electrified the crowd on a nightly basis.

Great video. No players' names on the backs of jerseys, and yet I could still follow along. No Patty Kaleta submarine action. Players actually skating through the neutral zone with the puck!

Spot on M ... The games today are so locked down compared to the wide open play back then... And watching the Sabres vs The Habs was a terrific game with up and down action...ah, the good old days ( did my Dad just say that? lol!)

Agreed Ion. We both can remember those early days and to watch Perreault and company and Rodger the Dodger in net was real special. Punch Imlach assembled a fantastic team with the draft and acquiring solid vets. It was end to end and had you on the edge of your seat. Great memories.

Still no word on Lehner????? Hoping Murray makes a move for someone like Hiller,ect. I feel like this season will be wasted if Lehner is gone for an extended period, and Murray stays the course.

A little. But ticket prices for that game at the box office were crazy. I sit in the 2nd price tier of the 300s and the face value on my ticket was over $100.

Even on stubhub people could go for season ticket prices. Today they could sit 100 lvl center ice for $40-45 per seat. They all pile in for a prospects game but not the real thing? Makes no sense.

Prices were so good I wanted to go but couldn't find a sitter. I think you'll see prices climb as the season goes on. It happened last year and we got worse as the season went on.
