Not surprised that Z is getting the pairing with Barrie. I think that's the right call.
Also not surprised that Grigo is the 13th forward. Good luck Av's fans! |

I'm......okay with this.
Guenin out is a win. Maybe Stuart gets a big push from watching Beauchemin kill it? Either way we're stuck with him so if he can just play smart veteran D, I'd rather him than Guenin.
Gorm and Holden can jump in and out of the line-up based on who's hot and cold.
I could have done with a rotation on Rendulic coming out for Grigo though. Would be much more interesting seeing him work and try to prove himself on a new team. He's watched a couple games, give him a shot versus an injured bottom feeder like Boston.
Let's be honest, Rendulic is less productive than our 4th liners the way they are clicking. Skille looks solid and Mitch is just made for today's version of a 4th line where goons are no longer required. |

Grigs shoulnt be the 13th forward, just roy has a crush on Rendulic right now evem though hes not showing that he is ready for 3rd line minutes, A rookie in Rantanen, a new C in Soderberg, and basically another rookie in Rendulic its no surprise that line is struggling.
Once Soda and Rant become more established and comfortable playing Roys system, I can see Grigo sliding in in the best position to succeed.
Thats how Im spinning it anyways |

Baby steps...Stuart is better than Guenin and Holden, so thats a plus that is he in the line up over Guenin. I am not shocked to see Roy trying his hardest to have Holden succeed since they have 2 more years invested in him. He is going to have a longer leash to be pushed out of this roster over Guenin and Stuart. |

Beauch-EJ and Zadorov-Barrie need to play 25 minutes each. Any combination of Guenin/Stuart/Holden/Gormley will be fine as long as they're only getting 10 minutes a night. |

Slowly but surely the D is getting better. Barrie is finally with the right partner and now if we could just swap out Holden for Gormley I'll be a happy camper. Stuart is fine as the 6th man and Holden and Guenin are fine as a #7 but neither of them belong in the NHL. |

Rendulic will get a couple more games. Roy has always been fair when a player has earned a spot with forwards.
If Rendulic falls out, expect Grigs to come in and Everberg to be called up to be #13. |

Agreed, Grigs will get into the line up soon enough. I have had this hunch that Rendulic making it into the line up is a Rantanen safety net plan. In case he preforms they might be able to send Rant down to further develop or if he Rant isnt looking ready, that Roy is experimenting with Rendulic in that role.
Just a hunch, it seems odd to have both up at the same time. Since Everberg is a much more talented Rendulic. |

Interesting comments by Roy this morning regarding the hunt for Barries partner. Seems like they had someone else in mind before picking up Zadorov.
Sounds like Hamilton, but couldnt close the deal. That would have been a crazy draft to get both Hamilton, Zads. Wouldnt have signed Beauchemin in the offiseason then, but would have traded the 10th overall pick for Hamilton.
I like that the Avs drafted Rantanen, but to have your top 4 of EJ/Zads Barrie/Dougie. Man that would have been solid. |
