Carol Schram: Vancouver Canucks: Will Ice Time Issues Unravel This Year's Team? Questions about ice time abound as the Vancouver Canucks look for a way to stop losing leads and win their first game of the year on home ice.

I don't think ice time will be an issue as they are pros. I think it will be a game management issue. We are going to see WD make a few to man gaffs behind the bench but I don't believe to much ice time for the Vets will be the issue.

idk, the Sedins have looked awful tired in those ot losses when they were out there, lose possession and no gas to do much after, game over.

pros or not, they have looked tired at the end of games. Too many double shifts in the 3rd and diminishing returns?

Whether we want to admit it or not the current speed of the game is passing the Sedins by. As they approach 35 years old or more it will just get worse. They are masters however at controlling the speed of the game to their pace...when they have possession of course. We don't have the current personnel to keep their ice time below 20min/game right now...but it has to change soon.

Looking at the ice time, I wasn't even considering the ot, they must have been out there for close to a minute...

As long as they have the puck, they are fine. At 5v5, their lack of speed isn't really that big an issue, just all the extra ice at 3v3 is a challenge.

This is the big red herring isn't it. The Sedins are not performing well because they have yet to find a better linemate... that's what we are told anyways. Or the Sedins no longer have a powerplay quarterback.... also what we are told.

And I chose to believe this 'cause they look pretty damn fast.

The first 3 games they were back checking like mad. I feel they have their legs and they are the most conditioned athletes on the team.

How about this we are playing exactly like our roster says. 500 hockey. We are a borderline playoff tram at best and without the sedins we are easily bottom 3 to 5. The roster is not great it's ok but their isn't enough good yet. It'll come as the kids get a bit older but this
Team is playing exactly how I thought it would.

Who gives a flying rats ass about the Twins as long as Vrbatas happy who cares. If your line has a good outing, expect it to be broken up so we can find a home for Vrbata this year

Vrbata is a goal scorer. He can't score unless he's happy though so they are working on his feels.

If Vrbata breaks 20 goals he will fetch us a pretty good return at TDL.

I like Vrbata/Burrows to the habs for their cup run and a high pick and a roster player coming back.

Then Edler to PHI for B.Schenn
Then Hamhuis to CHI for their 2nd
Then Hansen to WPG for their 3rd

The Sedin's are not built for the open ice of 3 on 3. They use guys on the ice for a ton of pick and roll plays throughout the game. 3 on 3 will ruin this teams chances of making the playoffs. I predict they lose 75% of the games that go into OT if WD keeps doploying the twins in OT. I am ready to see what offers there are for them at the trade deadline. We are not gonna compete anytime soon for a cup so why not build for 2-4 years from now. And keeping aging vets is not the answer.

Teams would pay a 1st for him. at the very least a 2nd and 3rd. Esp if Bieksa netted a 2nd rounder in off season.
