In my opinion, at least right now, Nashville is a better team than the Jets—who I suspect are going to get a bit blown up by GM Kevin Cheveldayoff before March 1.
They have to .
Who lets their captain go into the final year of his deal unsigned ?
So Ladd and Buff for sure get traded .
The Jets have almost no shot at the playoffs and even if they get there who can they beat in a series ? No one .
They will be big name sellers from now till deadline . |

Looks that way. I think Chevy has to say, look, we were just OK, but not good enough with these guys. He's gonna lose Byfuglien regardless. Have to be sellers. Trouba, Ehlers, Hellebuyck might be nice to build around. I think the Jet fan base is willing to be patient too. They are a smart bunch from what I've seen. |

I think the Jets fan base will be more patient than most if they see a plan...But and it is a big BUT...Those juicy season tickets agreements they had in place when the club first came to town are just about over I believe.
It's a small building and it needs to be filled to the brim at high ticket prices.

You forgot Schiffler. He looks to be the next captain. But hey, if Chevy is getting rid of him, he would look smashing in the Indianhead.

I did. Morrissey is part of a nice future there, too. Good comment about Hammer and TVR on their right sides in the last thread, btw. |

TVR and Hammer going back to their natural spots is a good sign. In my opinion, way to many guys playing out of position. Why create more holes then you have to. Play them where they belong. Dont know what Q has against Dano, but he looked like a different player on RW. I hope the Rockford Yo-Yo doesnt affect his confidence.
Wonder if Stan would do TT, 29 and a 1st for Ladd?? My what he could do to solidify the top 6. With the Jets headed for a rebuild, TT and a 1st would really help that team. For what Ladd brings to the table, Im okay letting TT go the other way. Good bounce back win last night. |

Gotta say, Al. it' doesn't feel like Chevy's out of lives up there yet. He's made some good moves, and it doesn't help that they're in the toughest division in hockey either. |

I agree JJ Preds greater than Jets, it also appears 30 games in the WC isn't what it was, 6 really good teams, LA, Stars, Blues, Preds, Wild and Blackhawks?
Stars don't have the depth or the blue line
Blues is Allen the answer and other than Tarasenko can they score in the playoffs
Kings no depth and defensively thin
Wild, Dubnyk okay plus small team
Preds great blue line but forwards okay
Then the Blackhawks most complete team on this list
The Hawks are a young team but they are a young talented team that's going to have growing pains, problem with young players is consistency.

I don't think there is a change coming soon as far as Chevy is concerned...Haven't heard anything of that nature. But this coming June will be his 5th year and the team will need to be better in years to come than it has been otherwise there could be a $$ problem. They aren't a cap ceiling team now and even when they had playoff like years they were no more than a one line team. They need to take next the step....

Thanks. It was about to make me need a new TV.
The Jets make no sense to me. They have talent. Maybe not at a superstar level but there is a lot of talent there. They have good team speed. They just don't play smart at all.

Chevy has done a good job of drafting. If I am not mistaken, they are rated as having the best group of prospects in the league. |

A big reason why the Preds are better than the Jets is coaching. MAurice has always had his teams backslide after a good first year or two. He again is a coach who isn't technical. Like Boudreau he's a glorified bench opener, a "player's coach" who doesn't understand or implement systems and he can't react on his feet to a coach who makes in game changes to combat Maurice's tactics. Laviolette like Q is more of a technical coach as well as being a player's coach. Difference is Laviolette has shown he will lose his mind in certain situations and isn't above throwing his players under the bus.

Well for some reason, Buff has gone the way of idiot in his playing style. Dangerous and dirty. Doesnt help. Dont remember him being like that when he was here. |

Noticed this last night even Eddie mentioned it 20 times last night why aren't they making an adjustment on the power play when the Jets had the man advantage.

Fundamentally they were the worst team I watched under Noel...Now they are better but undisciplined. Seems to me it's time to break up the band...And decide on a younger goalie.

The Jets would be a much better hockey team and in a better position in the standings if they weren't such an undisciplined bunch on the ice. They routinely play shorthanded 5 or 6 times a game. And for as long as that has been going on, that squarely is on the coach and Chevy should be holding Maurice accountable for it. |

Was thinking last night. Maurice is not a bad coach. Lavy is a very good coach. |

I was watching the Canadian feed and of course they go easy on him. But I have watched Maurice for a few years and in Toronto in particular. He looks like a studious dude, he sounds smarter than Boudreau but his teams have no structure. One thing about him like Boudreau is he comes across as a likeable guy. |

They have a couple of good ones to choose from. The kid that played last night is going to be a good one. Hutchinson looks ordinary against everyone but the Hawks. Pavelec just isn't very good. He can have some small stretches when he looks ok but when the pressure ramps up, he doesn't. |

Friend of mine who used to be Buff's agent once said to me, around 2005: "he can be an ok defenseman; he can be a hall of famer as a wing."
I think he was right. |

So.....now that we've basically all come to agree that the Jets dont stand a chance in the grand scheme of things....can we PLEASE also put to rest the notion the the Hawks are a bubble team? Im just sick of seeing people throw that word around.
The Pacific is garbage aside from the Kings. No way they get more than 3 teams. 5 teams will come out of the central, again.....so someone PLEASE tell me how we wont inevitably be one of those 5 teams?? We're already in a pretty good spot and we've yet to play our best hockey, not even close. We own an advantage over all those other teams(MIN, NSH, STL, WIN, DAL) in the majority of the facets of the game, eye test or on paper. Our insane amount of experience and know how is just a bonus.
We stay healthy we WILL make the playoffs. Only question is what seed.
This isn't close to being a bubble team and wont be any time soon. |
