2015 is one of the most disappointing years for the Penguins in a LONG time. Horrible calendar year all around. |

I am with Letang, I am sick and tired of seeing him either chicken winged in the face or having his head put through the boards. While I understand the idea of that having a enforcer is a bygone idea maybe it's time the Penguins find someone like Wayne Simmonds who can play but also isn't going to give Komorov the choice after a hit like that.
It would also help if the NHL would figure out that the concussion lawsuits are only going to get worse unless they start actually dealing with that bullpoop. It was an obvious charge that resulted in a player missing ice time which should be the new standard for a major not the basis of an injury. As the saying goes; Suspend the act, not the result. |

We can sit here and talk about the process all day long but the process doesn't get you into the playoffs and the process doesn't win the Cup, the results do those things and the improved process has done nothing for the results, in fact the results have gotten worse since the process has improved. I like a lot of what HCMS has done and I do believe they will generate long term results but long term results aren't helping this team right now and the short term results under HCMS have only dug the hole deeper. |

Johnston would probably be doing worse. |

The problem with that mentality is that you'd be playing right into Komorov's hands and giving him a bigger advantage, he didn't drop with Cole because he was hoping that Cole would take a penalty coming after him and in a game like last night taking that stupid penalty could have been the difference between a win and a loss. Why would Komorov not do it again when he's injured a player and was rewarded by drawing the powerplay that won his team the game?

Based on what? He was 15-10-3 so there's really nothing to support the belief that they would have been worse than 2-5-1 in the next 8 games if the change wasn't made.

Based on his 100% reliance on Fleury stealing games. MAF is injured and while everyone is commending Murray, he's not as good as MAF. |

Kypreos made a good point about Letang during the intermission
He retrieves the puck like a freaking moron putting his back to the play and his head down in the "danger zone" (3-5 feet from the boards)
Just begging to take hits like these |

I still love to know how the hell Letang got a penalty on that play. Ridiculous. Then again that's the NHL officiating so I shouldn't be surprised.

They've averaged 1.75 gf/gm over the last 8 so I would say they're still very goalie reliant. Also they were 2-1 before the change with Zatkoff in net and 0-3 with him after the change.

That's common place in the modern NHL, all defenseman turn their back to the pressure when retrieving pucks because they know they can't be hit and if they are they draw a penalty for their team.

OK, and they gave up more shots with Johnston than they do with Sullivan which means even with a good save% they might still be giving up more goals. So again, I fail to see how the results would be any better and they might even be worse without Letang and MAF. |

A 2 min roughing for getting blasted from behind and then laying on the ice in the fetal position sounds about right.

Hows that "can't be hit" working out for Letang?
worth the 2 minutes?

Still don't see how that points to them doing worse if Johnston was still here, they were 2-1 under Johnston when MAF wasn't in the lineup, the number of shots they gave up means nothing when those extra shots weren't leading to goals and they were actually winning when they gave up more shots. There's no doubt that it's possible they could have done worse with Johnston still on the bench but there's no evidence to suggest so, saying they would have been worse is no more accurate or provable than saying they would have been 8-0. |

I don't think I ever said it was a good play, I just said it's a common play that happens pretty much every time a defenseman retrieves the puck.

Fair enough. It can be argued either way. I just think it was pointless to stay with Johnston. The team wasn't going anywhere with him either so I'm not all that upset they changed even if the results aren't any better. |

Pretty much jay.
Heck if he would have stayed on his feet maybe he would have gotten a major. |

The thing is, we all knew whatwe had witg Johnston. We all knew what type of game we were playing and it would not cut it. Now the team is improving with Sullivan. If he can put his system in place things will work out and we will have a shot. |

Letang was not run into the boards head first, Letang turned and yes he went into the boards, but not on a head first or head shot basis. |

Unfortunately we have gotten to the point in the season where the results are just as important as the process. If it was the first 20 games, id rather be playing good hockey than have the wild card locked up, but at this point the further we slip the more likely it is we'll miss the playoffs. I like what Sullivan can bring to this team long term, but this season keeps slipping out of reach and having a good process isn't making me feel better about it. |

Ok, so some fancy stats look better and Sydney is scoring more.
When does the winning start? |
