The Isles didn't play their best game, but the Flyers deserve a lot of credit. They stepped on their throats early and didn't let up.
Schenn, Raffl & Couturier are looking like a pretty dynamic trio. Schenn & Couts just seem to click. Raffl is doing his best work of the season with them. |

Took some time but the line combos might just be coming together. |

butch goring finally gave the flyers credit with about 2 minutes to go in the game. mostly it was just discussion about the islanders not playing well and the usual references to 1980, nystrom, the spectrum, jigs mcdonald and the like.
it's nice to see coots and schenn regularly contributing. we've all talked about how they needed production from those guys to be competitive. you can see how it important it is when the top line isn't producing. certainly very is little is coming from the units below. raffl was their top goal scorer last year...maybe he's finally coming around half way through the season. |

Great game. Thought Manning played well. Our 2nd line has been great. 1st line is generating chances but just aren't getting the bounces I guess. Now let's repeat this on Wendsday against Bruins |

Yeah a lot of talk about how they feel JT just isn't quite himself. Goring gave it up to the Flyers though and called out the questionable effort of the Islanders. Apparently they're crap in matinees just like the Flyers used to be. |

my issue wasn't really with him. that (frank)nozzle howie isn't capable of simply calling the game. he ALWAYS has to talk about 1980, the bullies, etc. jfc. it was 35-40 (frank)ing years ago. we get it. |

Hakstol's made some concerning moves this season, so it was great to see Umberger, White and VdV with the lowest ice times today in a comprehensive win.

Also, our 2C is outscoring our 1C handily at ES.

One thing has been clear with this coach. If you play well, or your line is playing well, that's who he will play. Laughton has been playing well lately, so his ice time is rising.
Couturier is tied for 34th in the league in ES scoring among centers. He's definitely not a 2nd line center.
Couturier has scored more points at ES than the following players.
Joe Thornton
Steven Stamkos
Ryan Johansen
Patrice Bergeron
Claude Giroux
Ryan Getzlaff
Teuvo Teravainen

Islanders can use the excuse they didn't play well all they want. In my view the Flyers simply gave them an ass whupping. From the opening faceoff.

It's funny how different teams threads mirror each other. Go into the Isle thread, Taveras sucks and is a bad leader. Sounds familiar. |
